There's a Vraks Nurgle and a Vraks Khorne list IIRC?

LatD is a catch-all term for Chaos forces that are not lead by Chaos Space Marines. Thus Traitor Guard, Daemon Worlds (the mortal populations, that is), Zombie Plague infestations, and Chaos Squats (who, while they still officially existed, made the Daemon Engines IIRC) would all be included. Of course the Chaos Squats have their own army list now, but they could still fit under the LatD umbra.

But they doesn't allow the Chaotic and colourful mix of cults and wargear I want! I have litterally spent years painting my LatD, it has a mix of all 4 cults and traitor guard, I look very dimly on people who say "traitor guard and demon engines should not be in the same list"... why the hell not!? It's been fine for years! There is no balance issue.

There seem to be different stages of Chaos contamination:

Recently Corrupted:
Vraksian Renegades
= basically Imperial Guard with worse/random Leadership values, some Preachers and Psykers, Worker Rabbel rare Chaos Space Marines.

Slightly Corrupted:
Servants of Slaughter
Servants of Decay
Blood Pact
= as above but with Chaos Marks, Cult Marines, Mutants Rabble replace Worker Rabble, "Cult" Beastmen and Chaos Aircrafts

Heavily Corrupted:
Cureent LatD army list
Daemon World warbands
= as above but with Daemon Engines and Daemons

I can see that the current LatD list is based on the EoT list. I still think it's a bit weird, but I'm not going to campaign for forcing people to give up their armies over it. BL places LatD in the heavily corrupted list - I guess they can still retain imperial assets even if I personally would have thought they would have rusted or mutated long ago.

BLs split seems fine. Would be nice to see a pure cultist list, maybe based on Siegemaster or Mossinian units with daemon support?

Specify "impacts" please. Do you mean the focus? Modus operandi?

How splitting the list will impact people's current choices, I believe.

I thought the idea was to replace the current LatD list with more focused lists?

Right, so if you take (for instance) traitor guard and daemon engines now, how will the division into more focused lists affect your current choices? Will it take major reworking, or will you only need to replace a couple units?

Well...
Both would use Covens and Plague Zombies.
Dameon Pool for DaemonWorld army off course. Perhabs for Traitor Guard too.
Daemon Prince only for Daemon World army.
Traitor Tank Squadron, Traitor Griffon Battery, Traitor Hellhound Squadron and Traitor Flak only for Traitor Guard.
Add Daemon Engines (only AV) as upgrades for Daemon World army.
Traitor Support Formations only for Traitor Guard.
Daemon Engine Formations only for Daemon World army.
Traitor Navy only for Traitor Guard.
Chaos Navy for Daemon World army.

I think what is considered is how to achieve playable lists without, say, Traitor support. Just removing them would cause serious problems for the possible lists or make at least one Tzeentch coven mandatory.

I am a bit intrigued by nealhunt's idea, to partly incorporate them in upgrades. However, there are some problems. Some of those options would be too good. Basilisks in the Blitz Guard. Why bother with spawning daemons if you have Rough Riders as part of the formation already. No summoning uncertainties, and it would boost your assault nicely.

One suggestion is to replace Guard AV upgrades with Rabble LV upgrades. Share the same chassis as the Land Transporter, but equip them with Heavy Flamers, Battle Cannons, 1BP Mortars or AA. Since mechanized formations already consist of LV:s, the LV status is not that much of an obstacle in list construction. People like Rug and Irisiado (?)(and partly myself) can keep their models, but play them as LV:s. It is not even that much of a stretch. Untrained crew, low morale, bad communication etc impairs the effectivity of the equipment. Tank crews fleeing as their tank is hit by AP fire etc.

Second one is to deify or change Traitor elements to increase cost/change roles. Examples would be Khorne Rough Riders (Juggers). Nurgle Sentinels would be Blight Drones etc. Formation sizes could also vary.

/Fredmans
