Back when I did my 40k Orks, I got a pretty good result with a black basecoat, drybrush Tin Bitz, drybrush 1:1 Tin Bitz and Boltgun, wash with Vermin Brown or Blazing Orange, then a light drybrush of straight Boltgun. Time consuming, but a good outcome. I'll try to find a pic tonite.

Well I tried a couple of different washes today, including flesh wash, brown ink and devlan mud, and mixing them together. None of them really took my fancy. I think I want a gunmetal look rather than rusty- I may wait to get hold of some armour wash and try that instead.

Ya it may not have looked right on your already painted minis. I usually primer and then wash, or do a thinned down coating of what the model is gonna be painted then wash. After i drybrush on the main color then maybe a super light drybrush of a lighter forum of the drybrush color.
