yeah, i like them all myself, as does my marine playing friend. certainly i never felt they where overpowered, but more to the point, i felt like the marines acted more like marines should be able to)

My understanding is that as Marine AC it’s really your call to make and the ERC would only veto a change if you did something really crazy like making Tacticals 200 points or giving Dreadnoughts TK.

I’ve played I think around 5 games now with 275 point Tacticals and tried out Predators and Vindicators and ground style forces in general. I like the way the changes affect list building choices (apart from preferring the split-cost Predator fix Epic-UK implemented) and overall I find the changes fine and I’ve lost more games than I’ve won with them in place.

More testing by as many people as possible would help though. I hope I might be able to get another SM game or two in down in London before belatedly leaving for travelling.

Hey Dobbsy,

Cracked out a 4k games today against Groover. He brought the Saranes Expanse Crusade, and I took Codex with changes. The game once again went to a fourth turn with a points win to Codex Marines. This is my seventh game with the changes and the trend is that Marines are lasting though the game and more often than not games are resolved at the end of a fourth turn. The changes are giving you to option to match other armies in activations and as such Marines have become IMO more durable as single formations are not ganged up on as much.

I have had nil negative feedback from my opposition along the way. At what point are the changes that you proposed going to become official. I think the topic has become stale, the changes are being used and I am not seeing much in the way of feedback or discussion on changes. With any luck Groover will add some comments on todays game at some stage.

Cheers
Aaron

Well the changes are locked in for the current year of the Armies Compendium. That's as official as they'll be for now :)

Thanks for the feedback Aaron! :)

Is this list in the 2012 compendium?

yes. The changes implemented are in the 2012 compendium for assessment over the year.

I saw that....I thought the SM lists were going to stay the old way and the test changes would be on here for ppl to use if they wished instead being thrown into the Approved lists.

Seeing all the 175 T-Bolts in SM and 150 in IG makes me sad panda.

What better way to test something? Oh, and here's a tissue... :D

This seems a little backwards to me... shouldn't list changes be tested thoroughly, then get stamped with "approval"? By doing it this way (including them in the compendium, the supposed be-all/end-all for rules and stats, until the next version) the changes are de facto approved. There has been scant evidence of testing so far.

Hey CP,

Plenty of testing has occurred mate, I for one have had more than fifteen games with the new changes and have forwarded results to Dobbsy, here and in person. When posting responses and results on Taccoms, I have seen minimal feedback or further discussion on findings.

I would encourage others to make a reply here with your findings based on your games with the new list. What it feels like at the moment is that people readily accept the changes and that is why there has been minial chatter about them.

Looking forward to the discussion.

Cheers
Aaron

I've played with the changes in 5 or so games. All are fine.

I just went through my regular marine lists and updated them to 2012 prices; None of them changed cost at all (the price hike on my customary 2x TBolts was exactly balanced by the price drop on my equally customary 2x Tacticals).

I really like the ability to add a Land Raider to my Tacticals (for my SC); It feels right. I'll try to build that into my next list.

Aye it barely changes the more popular lists, mostly only works to make less popular formations more viable.
