The thing is, bookkeeping on a few leman russ demolishers is fine, but for a whole army of marines with plasma cannons it gets horribly awkward, especially for things like devestators where some may fire one or two shots. It's just too awkward at that scale, and not FUN.

Exactly, you're in favor and that's fine. Others aren't. As AC its up to you to weigh the arguments and make proposals that can (or not) be play tested and presented for approval once done so.

All that being said I think this is something for next year as we should be in the locked period while the army book 2012 is being drafted? I mean you've waited 2 years so what's the rush?

Yes, Zombo you've said that consistently. Personally if I selected to use such an army I'd be fine with the book keeping and wouldn't find it dull. But that's me.

Hey, it's a debate thread I never joined in with!!!

I have no opinion on the issue these days.

Keeping track of lots of slow firing can be annoying, and yes even somewhat not-fun, but it's not the biggest issue in the world either.

The problem with this issue is that no AC has felt they have the power to make a change, as it's a weapon that affects other lists. It's been considered by most that only the netERC can make such a change.

Well there's Mephiston handing off the responsibility to Dave & Rug. Go bug them.

If the AC's can come to a a consensus then fine....but when asked before the then ERC (Neal and Hena) didn't seem in favor any change by my reading of this thread.

Can't say I see it as an important thing to change either. But if the wider player base can persuaded the two AC's that this is required then it can be reviewed.

No, having read what is published on list approval it does state that for list to be considered for netERC approval the AC responsible has to be happy that no changes will be needed for at least one year. Would this change therefore drop the steel legion from approved to experimental? Just putting that out there for debate.

It was always intended to be a two stream solution:

List in Armies Book - Stable
List on forum - Can be different to list in armies book so as to be experimental.

The Armies Book was supposed to provide an annual snapshot of lists, not set every single list in stone. If AC's want to test other things over the course of the year for consideration for next year's armies book, of course they can.

Testing can begin now if Rug & Dobbsy want.

It's just that any changes derrived from testing wouldn't be considered for the 2013 armies book until ~oct-nov 2012.
