i'd like to think that the first 2 or 3 DC did not provide a bonus
so a titan with 1/8 DC left would provide 5/8ths of its points, being as how some of the damage is likely to be superficial, and a titan with 1/8 DC left is still capable of functioning at 100% capacity. and more importantly it gives the opponent an incentive to finish off titans as the game nears an end, and an incentive for the titan player to continue to protect them once they're on their last DC

as to percentages vs a straight 100, its not hard to do maths. yes, it could be fiddly, but if you figure it out before the game starts, and write it out on the army list, it shouldnt add much time (and better represents the fact that warlords can vary quite a bit with various weapon loadouts)

but their importance to the mechanicus is equal.

we're not looking for it to be perfectly balanced to titan cost - we're looking to stop the 'draw and win on VP' stratergy.

100pts would work beautifully.

I like the 100vp/dc idea too. It's a simple fix to the "play for a draw" strategy, which I agree is unfun. Also, it doesn't affect any strategy or list that relies on winning on goals, which is desirable.

just thought of this argument in the shower:

the intent of the rule is discourage playing for draws. the effect of the '100VP per DC rule' is really to reward the opponent for whatever damage they've managed to inflict.

yes, a plasma warhound and a basic cost different amounts, but it's still the same difficulty to inflict the 1dc damage. hence the same VP bonus.

The "play for a draw" style is effected by taking minor damage on everything, but not actually losing much.

I want a rule that incentivises the amtl player to play for a win with the knowledge that amtl draws hurt.

Well, there have been three or four proposals on various ways to give the other player the edge in draws by giving them more VP through various methods.

What's the problem with calculating the points cost per DC?
The victory points table above is the same as for regular formations. The difference is that you don't count the units but the DC to dicern if a Titan/formation is half strength/half DC.

How is that more complicated?

Actually the more i think about it this should be the way ALL WE formations VP has to be counted.
Or how do you calculate VP for a Warlord Titan which has 4 DC left? 0?
Should be a case for the Master FAQ.

Well, I've won more than a few games as AMTL, and none of those wins so far have been using the "play for draw" śtrategy. I don't think this weakens the list in the slightest, it certainly won't change my playstyle.

I usually win with the BTS goal (since an artillery titan with good air support can usually wipe anything it sets its mind to) and either T&H or Blitz with a support Titan.

This only weakens AMTL in the event of a draw. Any other time and you won't see this come up. As for 100/dc it sounds like a decent place to start but I think that it needs testing against the play for draw style and regular games to see if it hurt too much or not. It would be ironic to see it reversed where the other side does as much damage to titans as possible so they can win off the draw.

Would the God machines rule stay or would it be removed? I'd like to see it stay since I think it gives some flavor to the list and some incentive for opponents to kill off titans.
