Hello everyone:

As the thread title states, I am stepping down. I feel like I have to do this. I thought I was going to be able to get back in the swing of things after my rather interesting string of events calmed down. However, Real Lifetm has continued to rear its ugly head. It's clear that I don't have the time and energy to lead the NetEA project any longer and won't for the near future. Enough things have languished due to a lack of leadership that I need to step aside before I drag NetEA into full-on collapse. Sticking around as the nominal head only serves to prevent someone with more energy and drive from taking the reins.

I've discussed this with the rest of the NetERC and Cybershadow. Cybershadow will be opening a thread to discuss options for continuing and possibly reorganizing.

I will be sticking around to help out with FAQs and based on the rather light work required of the Ork AC, I will keep on that part of the project as well.

I want to say that I really appreciate all the work everyone has done over the years, from the initial playtesting of the EA rules with Jervis to the present. I am even more appreciative of the faith the community at large has put in me over the years. That's been absolutely wonderful. Even when I've made some bad calls, people have supported me and worked to try to fix them. You have my sincere gratitude for all of it.

I'd like to close with a rally call to the troops. Please, everyone support Cybershadow and the remains of the ERC in their efforts to rejuvenate the NetEA project.

Thanks again.

that really sucks neal, I hope Real Life sorts itself out soon. I also hope we can find someone with similar drive and commitment to replace you, I'm sure that there's someone out there who can fill your shoes.

Neal, thank you for all you have done to keep Epic alive in the face of GW's disinterest.

Sad news :( Another long-time ERC-member who is stepping down. But that's life i guess.
I hope you won't turn your back on this board for good neal! :) You are one of the more reasonable voices here!

I dont think that it is overstating things to say that the current state of Epic would not be the same without you, Neal. I sincerely thank you for the time that you have put in. You have stuck with it since Epic was even an official GW game, and I think that you have made a greater contribution to the game than any other single person, perhaps bar Jervis himself.

I understand your decision, and respect what must have been a difficult choice, made for the community and the game. I honestly hope that there will come a time soon when you are able to return more actively to development, and there will be a place when you do.

Thank you.

So does this mean you're leaving the NetERC entirely or just no longer will be chair?

Either way, it's a sad day. I hope things ease up soon.

Thanks for all your great work and effort Neal; you've been a major boon to EPIC and the community.

Hope you're still accepting phone calls in the near future! *laugh*

Well, this is something of a surprise. Thanks for all you have done for the community over the years. It's good you are sticking around though! Perhaps you can take up more of Chancellor or Chairman Emeritus roll. I remember a remark by the chancellor at my school a few years back that went something like this: The chancellor gets to take the jobs he wants and if he doesn't want to do it, well that's the presidents job!
