Hi all,

Thought i'd share a recent customising project.

I wanted to add a company of Stormblades to my burgeoning SL/MTL IG army however i didnt want to pay the going rate on eBay for the Forgeworld versions, and the old SM/TL versions are nothing like the current ones.

I decided to convert the old Stormblades so they would look similar to the new style:
1- bought 3 SM/TL era Stormblades, NIB, for around A$30 on eBay
2- bought 3 40K Space Marine Plasma Guns for A$9 on eBay
3- used spare turrets from the SM era Ork Battlewagons (ever versatile!)
4- used 3 plastic E40k era Landraider Lascannon sponsons - had these spare from the boxset collecting dust. shortened the lascannons by cutting off the middle and the iron sights, and attaching the tips back.

I present the 77th Jouran Dragoons Stormblade company:

A few things to note:
- they are slightly smaller than the Epic40k Baneblade and Shadowsword and definately smaller than FW versions. However i figured this shouldnt cause any issues
- the SM/TL era Stormblade model looks very futuristic compared to any other SHT - both SM/TL era through to FW era. However i like this look, as Plasma weaponry is very much a 'lost art' so i figured this is old tech and in true 40k backwardness, is more 'modern'...
- the plasma coil/tube whatever, i tied to make it 'pop' more by taking a leaf out of Onyx's work and applied gloss varnish to that area, along with the headlights. It helps a little. After some feedback i'll go back to the models and make the barrel exit 'gloss green' rather than just black.

Next project is to convert old SM/TL era Shadowswords into Stormswords - the flamers on the sponsons are going to be an isssue i think...

Like 'em. Have some plasma Rifles for almost that exact purpose, actually. Except I'll probably mount them on Ordinatii instead of Shadowsword hulls.

Really nice, doable, conversion, and impeccable logic for the hi-tech appearance.

As someone who really likes and wants some of the FW Stormblades, can I just say 'holy cow, thats awesome'! Nice work, and a great idea.

Thanks for the comments guys :)

I would've liked the plasma to stand out more - if i make another company of them i'll try some different techniques.

@ Lord Aaron
suk-la-bluur - do you mean 'sacre bleu' which is French essentially for 'bloody hell', though technically it means 'holy blue' which loses something in the translation?!

I think the "sacrebleu" word was actually looted from english, probably something like "Sacred Blood" originaly, makes much more sense.

BTW, your blue works very well !
