Hey Matt,

I will be home in a week, just thought I would check in and see if you have any updates to the list, spcific things you want playtested. I am l,ooking forward to getting into the list and having some fun with it. The army is at home and in blisters, so I will be building and converting as I go. Imperial Fists will be standing in for their brothers in the mean time.

On side notes, how is the painting going and have you added anymore pics to the army list as yet. Drop me a list of things you need done mate and I will jump on it, I am off work for a month after 265 days in the war. I would still like to see Thunderhawk Transporters making it into the list, two airframes to a detachment or as singles. I see your example of a maxed out Bloodclaw Pack with Vinidicators and Here and add the THTs as method of entry to the game, would be wicked.

Cheers
Aaron

No new updates mate. I personally think the list is pretty much right to go for a lengthy period before it gets reviewed further. It also seems to pass muster with Neal Hunt to some extent from what I can tell. I haven't heard many complaints about it either - not that that is anything to really go by.

As to what to test, just go nuts with anything you'd like to play and/or what you think might be over the top and see what your opponents think but play it against a variety of lists to really see how it fares. I haven't yet tested it using a titan in support so that would be nice to see if you want to have a crack at it.

No worries I'll just think about it like the Wolves are fighting under a seriously yellow atmospheric light effect. :D

Painting has been very minimal of late unfortunately. I am half way through a Thunderhawk but I've lost a bit of drive on it after I realised it needed some greenstuff work to make it more Wolves-like. It's going into Nemesis so I have to get it right. I'm off to England on Saturday so I need to pack up what I have for the next few weeks anyway.

At this stage I'm not yet keen to add the transporter to the main list but it could work in the Iron Wolves list if you feel like you'd like to give that a bash too. If you want you can try the Bloodclaws and vehicles in a Landing Craft ;)

Hey Guys

Played 3k V's Orton and the Salamanders list last weekend. I don't have a batrep to offer but I did make some observations from our game. SW defeated the Sallies 3 - 0. My list was pretty simple, I was looking to get a feel for the general formations.

GH GH BC SC
+ SUP COMD + Long Fangs + Hero + Hero
+ GH + BC + SC
+ Vindies
+ Hunter

Preds Land Raiders Land Raiders Whirlwinds TBs

Game went well with the larger formations working well. The lack of ranged firepower in the inf was easy to overcome with close armour support and good arty prep. I found the eight strong formations to be great fun and they packed a punch. Terminators and numerically superior formations were an easy match for them.

Unblooded did not really effect my rolls that match, however I think it can be extended to include double as long at it is towards a formation of the enemy. I think ranged firepower will be an issue with the list, Matt and I have had a brief chat about this and that is his intent. I was ground pounding against another Marine so it was not as much of an issue as it my be against Eldar or Guard.

My next hit out will be 4k with the aim of maxing out some formations and seeing how they do.

Cheers
Aaron

I've found Unblooded gives the formation a problem once they start taking BMs. Once they start attracting BMs they don't really shrug them off that well unless accompanied by a hero. Putting leaders with them is one of the things I wanted to see a bit more when I designed the list. SW are big on their heroes etc. so....

There was a big push back on the movement aspect (bonus to double) of the original Unblooded rule so I removed it.

@CAL001: I would be happy about feedback about the Salamanders list :)

BL,

I will get Orton to make a post with his observations. I like the larger armoured formations, they deal alot of damage and have a increased indurance. It took alot from me to break them. Assaulting was good as usual. It didn't feel overpowered or underdone.

Cheers
Aaron

Hi, Great List! Two questions:

1. Why no Leman Russ in the Army list?

2. Why no Warhound?

Thanks LordotMilk. :)

Long story short, it's too rare. IIRC they are generally relics nowadays. I plan to use them as objective markers myself :)

LordotMilk wrote:

First and most importantly, Space Wolves' pride and most likely mistrust of anyone else's skill would mean the Wolf Scouts do the reconnaisance, and secondly I wanted a marine list that doesn't rely on the warhound so the two reasons married up nicely.
