Thanks Mark for putting up with me and my dice. I was not a happy chappy when my big push went wrong with the shining spears losing to that shadowsword. I also managed to silence the hall with one of my out bursts. Must remember that it's only a game of toy soldiers and I play it for fun. ;)

How the heck did that Shadowsword wipe out a unit of Shining Spears? Did the combat go for more than one round, or was it all in the resolution?

The shadowsword killed one in firefight, two were killed by support fire (including the exarch) 4 btb spears got one hit which was saved, the remaining 4 missed. The supporting windrider host + farseer (9x 4+ & 1x 5+) either missed or the couple of hits were saved. Spears had outnumbering, no blast markers & enemy has more blast markers vs 3 kills & inspiring Commissar. I believe I rolled double 1 for the spears to Mark's 5 or 6 wiping them out. Placing blast marker on Windriders and failing to wipe out single broken tank hunter within support fire range and place blast marker on conqueror formation which was next target on the list. I would also like to moan that that tank hunter rallied and broke my Fire Prisms.

The Lady was not smiling my way for that turn.

Gents, I forgot to take the round by round draws...if players could post their opponents in order I can get the stat's entered. Thanks.

Here's mine Dave:

Code:
Game   Player   Army   For    Against
1   Paul Sutton   Space Marines   18   14
2   Matt Arnold   Steel Legion   16   16
3   Rishard Laking   Steel Legion   6   26
4   Gavin MacKenzie   Biel Tann   29   3
5   Mike Thomas   Ulani   26   6
6   Steve Gullick   Emperor's Children   18   14

Thanks to all six of you for 6 great games. My list perfromed considerably better than I had expected, and my tactic of dropping on Turn 2 seemed to confuse all my opponents so much that I managed to win some games! :)

Only lost one game (to eventual winner Richard), and I maintain he was lucky to win that game - broken warhound with one DC left rallied on my Blitz and then managed to survive the next turn to win. Grr.

Mine were
Game #1 14-18 vs Chris Steel
Game #2 0-32 vs Steve Gullick
Game #3 26 (bye)
Game #4 3-29 vs Andy Harris
Game #5 16-16 vs Jeremy Lock
Game #6 16-16 vs Simon Jenkins? (Ulani)

My dice played their usual part except for a quite extraordinary game against Jez and his Marines, where I seemed to constantly throw '5's and '6's (I did apologise for this :) )

That's what makes the horrific betrayal of your dice so painful!

Have to agree on the Ulani Mark, they tough but too slow to threaten the enemy objectives. Getting draws seems to be the norm.

It gets frustrating for the opponent seeing their firepower roll off the Reinforced Armour and frustrating for the Ulani player not being able to hit anything or move anywhere.

Was a great weekend, enjoyed my first Britcon immensely and will definitely be going next year.

Also, despite expecting to be repeatedly annihilated, the dark angels actually were quite fun to play - despite taking a silly list. Vindicators were saved so many times by their new walker ability... and the two hunter option actually makes mud-marine armies not terrible. Still not convinced by whirlwinds... might swap them for another lots of terminators.

Can't remember the exact results, for the first games - all too long ago now.

R1 Simon Jenkins - Ulani (w): Terminators took out Simon's artillery on T1 and then I simply hid until it was time to take objectives in T3. I think my speed advantage was a bit help.

R2 Mark Preston - Steel Legion (l): I don't really recall the details of this game, but it was a fun loss... if you know what I mean. Reaver and a Warhound, that's just not cricket.

R3 Paul Sutton - Codex Marines (w): Two vehicle-ish marine lists, both of us doing crazy things like bring land raiders and predators. Unfortunately for Paul everything came down on planetfall out of position on T2, and I'd had time to mop up formations on T1. Also, I was making a lot of invulnerable saves this game... the ravenwings don't go without a fight, and the chaplain lander raider in my BTS was pretty stubborn as well.

R4 David Bartley - Beil Tan (w): Dave was cocky with his Phantom, coming forward unsupported. To which I then teleported my terminators behind it, cross fired with a land raider formation - destroying the holofield on a critical, then retained to engage - one dead phantom and BTS. I've only got one word to describe that turn, textbook. Probably the land raiders finest moment.

R5 Richard Laking - Steel Legion (l 0-32): For some crazy reason I marched half my army right in front of two mech inf companies and a warhound.... it didn't go well. Lesson learnt, don't be too aggressive. I think the glory of destroying the phantom was clouding my judgment.

R6 Chris Steel - Vannaheim (d 16-16): Unfortunately we ran out of time and didn't get to play a fourth turn. I wouldn't like to have called it. The T1 strike of this army is terrifying... but once you start to weather them down, plus my marines nearly all rallied, though then failing to activate three formations on T2 after having lost the roll off was a wee bit frustrating - stupid terminators.

Thanks to all my opponents, lots of fun games. Glad to have inspired people to look at the DA list... might be a trend setter with the twin hunters.
Finally, let no one laugh at the poor vindicator ever again.

Thanks Dave, you do a brilliant job with this & it's so interesting.

(Don't think that I'll play Chaos Space Marines again as it might well affect my overall standings.)
