Thanks for the link. I'll think about it. Having 3 would be nice.

Wow who would've thought I could be so lazy / easily distracted that this army is now in it's 3rd year of developent. I intend this to be the last one!

So that said undercoats drying on some new models, I'm refuelled with enthusiasm and by the weekend there should be some freshly painted models to take pics of............. well that's the plan anyway

Hmm I might have to reconsider my colour scheme so it won't be a direct copy off of yours :)

Could a John Blanche-style red wash on white undercoat work in Epic scale? I'm strongly leaning towards a more orange hue, but seem to have run out of Hobgoblin Orange ;D

I always regretted going with just one main colour, if I started again I'd use red and dark grey or black

Right so I've pulled my finger out this afternoon and finally finished my two part painted minoris. I've then spent the rest of the day trying to figure out my new fangled camera. My old wonderful point and click with different setting for what type of light you were under has died so I replaced it with a slightly more complicated bridge camera and I'm still trying to work out how to set my own white balances etc, so please bear with me and my inconsistent pictures.

So whilst thats not a bad start and already 475 points I dont think I can really claim it against this months target so I've started working on some more infantry. It's been a while since I painted the originals (2 years I beleive) so I'm trying to get used to painting such little figures again. First up will be my supreme commander stand and then I'll start cranking out another ten stands once I'm happy with the colours and process.

Also becuase I always have one eye on what models I want to paint next I'm shortly going to be ordering some interesting 15mm models I found which I think could make excellent proxies for AMTL units. I'm ordering them after pay day and then I'm afraid I'll have to ask you kind people for your thoughtd on exactly which units they could proxy.

Right I got so excited about getting back into painting this army and finishing the minori, that I knocked out my tech lord in the last few hours of the day.

Seen Below leading a skitarii Demi-century, he's a marine tech priest top half mounted on the tracks from an EW Khazari war droid.

In sme respects it was a mistake doing it so quickly though as I found most of my paint had dried up and gone gunky, particualy the greens so the highlighting is a bit Naff. I'm glad he's done though and if i get time I might come back and redo that stand.

Next up more infantry.

Heh, your September target is coming along nicely :)

Have you ever played with an all Skitarii list? I mean, any idea how they work? Shooty as hell with tough assault troops?

Cheers Cuban Commisar.

As regards playing with the list i'm not the best person to ask for advice. I havent played a game of epic in years, although once I've finally finished painting up this army I hope to get more involved and get some games under my belt.

Right so not as much progress as I would have hoped, I've at least started on the next cohort of infantry but painting in each highlight on 50 robes in various shades was wearing me down. I'm about halfway though but I did finish one stands cloaks completely.

Image

As a break from the infantry I decided to paint up some Air support, originally I was going to use FW thunderbolts but I found these Battle tech beauties and quite like the more advanced, blackbird spy plane look of them. I want to give them a name/classification but can't think of anything, does anybody have a suggestion?

Finaly from the same site as the planes I bought one of these

Note picture is only temporary as it's blagged off ebay.

This things is HUGE! I'm thinking of using it as a truescale minoris and I'll build various weapon platforms with a flat base which I can then slide in and out of the trucks bed. Additionally I'm also going to buy some 6mm scale storage containers like you would see on the back of a freight ship and create an insert in the same style so that in games when I'm not using the model as an ordnatus majoris I can use it as an objective, a sort of broken down land ship/dessert crawler containing vital supplies.

Still that will require lots of work and me buying a few extra odds and sodds which I don’t have the money for right now, so a project for the future. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts though, if any?

The air support is great.

As for a name the "Hammerhead" comes to mind.

Great thread. Really like your tech lord. Did you buy or make the weapon you have used on your 3 minoris ?

I'll post some pictures of the oppie later if you're interested. There's nothing I could find online to show dimensions, and beleive me it's BIG. Still once I've converted the pulling truck to make it look a little less battle-tech-esque it should look kick ass.

I like the hammer theme but hammmerhead is alreaady taken by tau. It does tie in nicely though as I'm using these as thunderbolts and the whole thunder, lightning, thunder god, thor, hammer thing sort of works. Just need to find another hammery thing.

I got lucky with the guns, they're from the OOP original necron destroyer and I've always loved them. I just happened across an auction selling 3 of them on ebay and leapt at it, they're really intersting and slightly unusual for GW guns, plus as theyre not obviously any one gun I can proxy them as anything as long as all three are the same.
