so I really love tanks and I wanted to know if there is a list which makes almost all tanks available without losing the majority of IG infantry......?

am I basically asking to have my cake and eat it?

if further clarification is required, I'm asking about all SHT variants, macharius and as many russ variants as possible.....

Minervan Tank Legion as found in the Epic: Raiders unofficial supplement :)

Minervans allow basically all Leman Russ and Baneblade variants, but do not allow Macharii. The trade off is the only infantry is a ten stand Armored Fist Platoon.

The only lists that allow Macharii at this time are MInervan and Skitarii, AFAIK.

thanks gents, looks like my guard will be Krieg with the option to field as Steel Legion....can anyone point me at some good death korps trooper models, or do people just paint the normal guard up as death korps?

As officialmodels Baran Siegemasters look quite similar to Deathkorps Infantry. But they are very expensive.

You might want to wait for the EW Royal Empire Minis... they look nice.

With luck they should be released in a few days as the July 1st release. Without luck they'll be out on the 14th. We've plenty of them blisters and good to go.

Oh and we are expanding the range too.

The Empire will have trenchcoat and non trench coat infantry, armoured elites and is only the first of 12 kingdoms.

Expect to see a lot of expansion from the Bounty Hunters and Empire in 2011. A few treats for Guild and Khazari players too.

As an update we are just waiting on the studio pictures, so they may be delayed by two weeks whilst we shuffle around our release slots but they are coming!

Tanks are ace :) Krieg do have armoured companies too (Forge World wrote a W40k list for one I believe), just no-ones got round to writing an epic list for one yet (E&C previously mentioned plans to do one eventually).

Machariuses might well have been included in the Minnervan list, but the Minnervan list was written before FW invented them. If you're opponents are ok with it (I'd be fine) just use the Minnervan list with Machariuses as a support unit option. Infantry is more limited in armoured company lists though, to give them some limitations and theme.

EW upcoming models could be a good proxy option. Though have you seen the French Soldiers that E&C has designed for himself? See his hobby blog thread.

I had indeed spotted them lurking in E&C's blog.......

on a different yet related, note are there reasonably balanced rules available for all the other superheavy tanks in the GW/FW range? if so, which army can utilise the most types?

minervans have 5 to choose from, and the skitarii can make the most variety via using them as ordinatii instead, but they're not quite the same as a proper baneblade

Krieg and Skitarii can take Macharii (3 main weapon options total). Vraksian Renegades can take any of the Malcador variants except the Infernus. Minervans have access to the Baneblade, Shadowsword, Stormsword, Stormblade, and Stormhammer. Cadian Shock Troops can take the Stormlord and Leviathan. Steel Legion PDF can take the Leviathan as well. [edit] The Cadian and Steel Legion PDF Leviathans have some fairly minor differences.

There are currently no armies supporting the CRASSUS ARMORED ASSAULT TRANSPORT, much to L4's dismay.

In terms of a superheavy-based army, Minervans are the best, because of the variety of options for the BB variants.
