Next, the Raptors are complete. Love these guys. Here they are with the metal, the first one is the "random EC raptor cult", and the second is the Violator cult.

The models don't have the edging of GW CSM, so I settled for making the masks and jumpacks the appropriate color. The violators have silver edging, hence the silver coloring. I gave the command stand figs gold pecs and other bits to have them stand out a bit, although a more enterprising modeler can easily replace a pistol or two with an icon or some such. Similarly, the EC raptor command got silver armor distinctions to designate the command stand.

And the finished pics:

Why the Violators, you ask? Well, the color provides a bit of contrast, and besides, any lexicanum page with the phrase "stained with juices of their mutated bodies" is a must-include in my painting thread:
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Violators

I took them to battle this weekend, and the EC raptors got wiped out but took a lot of Ultramarines with them, while the Violators violated a BTS formation of landraiders in FF. A very auspicious beginning. It was a hard fought victory for the EC; robbypk took it to the fourth turn.

well, as long as you don't violate them (or their enemies) with the juices of your own mutilated body. I certainly wouldn't want to pick them up and look at them if that happened.

so, you winning games again? No looking back at IG I hope :)

oh, and the models look ok, though you really need to put nipples on the violators

Wow - I 'rescued' my thread from the third page back. I guess that's a sign I should update more. There's only a few more odds and ends left until the EC are done. Feels good to see the light at the end of the tunnel with an army...

So, minor update today. The biggest "odd and end" of them all:

Image

Image

You get one guess as to what this will be :P
I made the doomfist out of a lightning claw (claws repositioned), two bolt pistols, and the arm and clip from a termie stormbolter arm. I've since greenstuffed the gaps in the doomfist arm. It's attached to the metal gatling blaster upper arm of the warlord. The hellstrike cannon is a trimmed-down volcano cannon with some unknown 40K ammo added in belt form.

The missile pod is from a 40K typhoon, with a couple of the missiles drilled out. I made the tail from a defiler flail and the tail gun from a spare copper arachnid (of Apoc manufacture) with a bolt pistol clip attached. Many thanks to uberChris for lots of 40k bits and advice, especially the titan's head:

Image

Image

I mounted it so that it would look like it was popping out of the chest, mutation-style. The wires make up the frame for the greenstuff:

Image

That was definitely a team effort with uberChris, who has worked with GS much more than I have. Here's the legs, which are representative of the work I've done on the rest of the body - filing off the aquilas and skulls, adding some obligatory horns popping through the armor:

Image

I have to figure out a way to mount the missile pod on the carapace, and will mount some speakers where the TLD's would go on the normal warlord.

Mate,

Nice looking conversion work so far, looking forward to seeing the finished product. Cool looking head for a chaos titan.

Cheers
Aaron

The head is resin, and is definitely of 40K-universe origin, so I'm pretty sure it's FW. I can't tell you what kit though. I think uberChris found it in a game store bits box.

Not much progress this week, except for flocking the bases of my greater daemons, daemon prince, and raptors, etc.

oh, right. I put a new desktop on my computer:

Oooh nice chaos titan, I love seeing mk3 warlord conversions, yours reminds me of what I did to my defilers years ago. The Blood slaughterer head is definitely the appropriate size/shape too.

Can't wait to see it assembled and painted. :)

I thought it was a Blood Slaughter head at first too, but it doesn't look like the one on the website. I'm still stumped as to what it is.

I wish I had a more definitive answer for you all, but after a few weeks of nagging me about updating my painting thread, Chris has evidently been ignoring it as well... I'll ping him later.

In the meantime, the legs and tail have been assembled:

I put some greenstuff on the horns to smooth them out a bit. Still waiting on some bits before I assemble the carapace.
