i'm not calling you names, i'm saying that having a random number of commissars is a stupid rule and you'd be best to do away with it is all.
especially in smaller games, when the difference between 2 commissars and 4 (let alone more) can be quite drastic to an army.
but failing that, 2d2 is a third of 2d6, and simpler than 2d6/3 which is somewhat of a pain to manage.

i appreciate what you're doing here, and am seriously considering whipping up some forces to try and get locals into the game with this, but i've always hated random commissars, so wasnt about to pass up the chance to snipe at them a bit XD

Sorry Carlos, you seem to have discovered that EpicUK is not regarded highly by everyone here :-)

I'm sure you could find a similar number of people with negative views about netEA

Yeah, apparently to be a real Epic player you have to pick one group to be exclusively yours, and throw stones at the other. ::) ;D ;)

Stop hijacking my topic! I finally went w/ 2 Commissars for simplicity's sake. Will update the file later when I get home.

True. Although cutting them down to 6mm scale is the real challenge....

As pointed out, Commissars is a GT rule. Minigeddon already excludes the Eldar Avatar. It's not a stretch to revise the Commissars rule as well.

Personally, I'd go 1/500 points; possibly 1d3+1 if you want to keep some randomness.

This is what we are doing in Perth.

We've had 4 new players have a go with another 2 lined up for tomorrow morning.
This is a great tool for introducing the concepts of Epic.

I like the concept of this. As well as being good for quick games and introducing new players it's an easier stepping stone target for those of us who have still yet to paint up an entire 3k army.

Feral orks might be a more competitive and fun to play list than in normal games, where big table corner deployment and slow movement don't result in few wins.

One thing I found w/ this format is that you really, really learn how to spot intermingled formations, either yours or the opponent's! It's not as fun as 3k as there are so fewer tactical options, but you can teach everything about the game using it, though.

Since becoming a father and also with the increase in artwork projects of late, I've not managed a game of Epic for over a year now! This looks like something me and a mate can play in an evening, maybe even manage a couple of games.

My three armies are Siegemasters, Tyranids and Speed Freeks; I'm thinking the Siegers are likely to be way too overpowered for small games like these. Also, as mentioned, the Nids are a bit of an oddity with their army structure - i think it's likely that I'm going to be pitting my Speed Freeks again my mate's Blood Angels. :D

Just to say I had a couple of games of Minigeddon tonight against my mate. I took Speed Freaks and he had his Blood Angels.

The first game was a total slaughter with me giving him a bloody nose that meant I had total control of the battlefield. In the second game he wised up and kept his small force together, a really tough nut to crack.

We both really enjoyed it. In fact, he's looking into buying some more 1000pt armies!
