Hi again ladies and gentlemen!
And thanks for all the nice comments, it helps me getting motivated. Image

I've been doing some more work on my orks, but not as much as I would have liked tough. I got a bit into
starcraft 2 again so it has taken a lot of my "hobby time", which is a scarce commodity in the grown up life, as we all know I guess.

But I have at least managed to finish the last 5 units for the big size warband and here they are:

Image

And as promised a group photo! (sorry for the bad pic, took 4 pictures but unfortunately all were out of focus)

Image

I've also started doing some terrain and I thought I'd start with some jungle terrain. I wanted it to look kind of extra terrestrial so there are no
ordinary tree shapes but rather just very big plants. I like it my self and think it does the part.

I showed it to my wife who's my test panel for stuff I'm a little unsure about. She didn't think it looks like a jungle but rather some strange overgrown plants.

What do you fellow taccommers think? Could this go for an extra-terrestrial jungle?

I've put some guys in the pictures for size reference.

cheers

Very cool, I like the alien jungle patch! A bunch of them would make a great table effect.

Glad to hear it!

They're from a big flower/hobby-cultivation store. The plants come in ball-shape I think they call them decoration-balls. I cut off single plants from the balls and glue them individually on the base.

Really nice - as always Borka.

Must admit - though i've always loved the idea of the hoard of barbarians that an epic ork army conjures up, i've always struggled with the rows of identical miniatures. I didn't think anyone would have the patience to really do a full army justice, but you and "TheKet" are proving me wrong ! :-) Keep it up !

( Though you're both a little crazy - in a good way ! ;-) )

Thanks guys! Image
I will try to keep it up. I started working on some stormboyz yesterday and cut one of them up to start converting, but after the first one I realized that I really love the storm boy mini. I can't cut any more of them apart I find them to be iconic for epic orks. So they will be 8 unipose units.

I've finished the gunwagon from an earlier update and also another none converted one. I like to have a few unconverted ones in the mix as I actually really like the old ork miniatures. This is what they look like.

I played a game last Tuesday against fellow forum member Tilioch. Droneslayer was kind enough to document the battle with his phone's camera. (can be seen here turn 2 starts with the picture "imperial engage" and turn 3 with "incoming fire"). It was a lot of fun so thanks for the game Tilioch Image
I realized after the battle Zaapguns are actually TK (D3) and not just MW like I played them (which explains why I assaulted with one of my blitz rather than shoot at the superheavies). The second thing I took with me from the battle was that infantry is slow, so I decided that it would be nice to mechanize one of my warbands.

I have therefore started converting a few battlewagons. Below are WIP's the first two. I really like the 40k battlewagon so it has been my inspiration.

They obviously need a lot of greenstuff-gap-filling, but I'm pleased enough with them so they'll be the next thing I'll paint.

This is probably the last update in quite a while. I start new work on Monday and it's the first job since after finishing my studies so I'm rather nervous so will probably need to do a lot of reading up in the evenings. No hobbying for me Image It's only nine weeks so will do more updates after the summer.

cheers everyone!

Great looking stuff. I agree that orks present a conundrum. The actual models are really cool, yet the ork in you demands conversions. Hope your new job goes well, and here's for a game or two come autumn.

More great stuff !

Sad nerdy observation - I especially like the way you paint yellow - i always find it the hardest. :-)

Good luck with the job, and thanks for the inspiration. I look forward to your resumption in the Autumn.

Hi again guys!

I finished my work last friday so have some more hobby-time now. I have done some more work on my orks finished converting 1 stompa, 5 battlewagons, one more gunwagon and a bunch of flakkwagons. I had taken some wip-pictures but going through the camera it seems like my wife have accidentally erased them. So I can't show them to you right now but I'll try and finish painting a few this week and show them then.

I´ve got a game coming up this wednesday, so I have worked on some terrain for that. I still have these pictures at least (sorry for the bad focus, one of my kids dropped and damaged my macro-objective so had to use another long-range one). Most of the trees are magnetized to allow easier troop movements.

That's all for now, thanks for watching!

cheers

Sigh... one day I too will have nice forrested bases for my table. Until then, I guess the flat white plastic shapes of the bases will have to do.

What you've got there looks pretty nice. My only critique is that the foliage on the trees is a bit bright.

I got the trees super-cheap from ebay. A chinese store called "we-honest". They take like 8£ for 100 trees in N-scale. So you could have one too Image

And yeah I agree they're a bit bright. I had two colors but I didn't like the darker ones together with the pinetrees. I wanted a bit of contrast.

Nice to see you back Borka!

The game you mention on Wednesday, is it at Dragon's? If so, I might just pop down to say hello.

No it's not, I'm affraid. I'm going to play in Skälby at my parents house. One of my brothers (the one I used to play epic with when I grew up) is there visiting with his family. He wanted to see a game of the current epic edition. Fellow forum member fredmans who lives nearby has agreed to play a game with me. I'll try and take some pictures.

I would like to play against your marines soon though!

cheers
