Hena has resigned; Chroma is long-term absent (last login in January). Nealhunt is currently the only netERC member active.

Is there any chance of any appointments being made soon? I'm sure discussions have been going on behind the scenes, but if we want to remain relevant this needs to be sorted ASAP.

I believe Neal is finishing up school/work things and is pretty much overwhelmed. I would wait until the semester is over at a minimum. I do know that he has reached out to several people about filling the vacancies. But to advance the topic, I will give Chroma a call to check up on him and see what is up if that helps.

Real life obviously comes first, but if people are unable to fulfill the requirements of the role, they should step aside as Hena has done to allow others to continue the project. Currently everything is on hold, but it doesn't need to be.

The first priority in my opinion should be to select a good, enthusiastic, replacement for Hena, one that does have more free time at the moment and in general. That would take the pressure off Neal while he's having a busy period in real life and the new person could pick things up (such as the army book) and re-energise things generally. Assuming interested party(s) have put themselves forward (I hope people have but I have no idea and wouldn't be suitable myself) it should just be a case of Neal (with or without input from Chroma) selecting someone and then letting them get on with things, albeit jumping in at the deep end a bit.

I'd rather see Chroma and Neal remain Net-ERC than not, so long as we have at least one active person and their absences will be temporary. It's unrealistic to expect Net-ERC members to be always around but it would be nice to be able to have things continue and move forward (particularly the army book, which I get the impression has been very nearly complete for a while now). I assume Chroma intends to come back after a long break but does anyone know from speaking to him? Obviously he has a lot on at the moment and that's entirely understandable, but it might help to know either way.

What are the requirements for NetERC? Or AC for that matter? How often are they required to post? Is there vacation time involved? Bereavement? What is considered an acceptable amount of waiting time to complete things? What are the procedures to 'oust' people if we can't get a hold of them?

I think many of these things are best left unstated, otherwise you end up with a very unfriendly environment to the volunteers that devote their time to the process.

Neal is behind on the army list because quite frankly I am behind on getting the Thurgrimm's list completed. There is one other AC but that is his place to mention. Here is my call out to anyone who wants to volunteer to format that list. I will email them the stuff and they can do it.

Once those few lists are completed, the army book will be well on the way. As for Chroma, I'll call him sometime this week.

Give me the format document and give me list and I will get it done. I will only do it however if it means the list gets out there. If we are waiting on one other person after that however, then it defeats the whole purpose.

If you are serious, PM me the other Army Champs name and I will see if they will 'play ball'.

Mosc: I'm not looking to have a written netERC constitution, I'm just pointing out the facts; Hena's quit, Chroma's long-term away, and Neal's busy. Currently, the netERC as a concept is non-existent.

I don't see that secrecy over it is really necessary (is anyone going to care?) but who it is is irrelevant really - it just really needs to get done at long last. I have no problem with people being too busy to do their bit for the army book so long as they delegate/pass the work on, or others just get on and do it for them rather than waiting. If Frogbear is willing to do them (thanks Frogbear! You get today's Tac Com gold star) then just tell him which list it is in a PM and he can sort it.

I do not actually have the time - far from it - however I will get it done.

Why not wait until the next version of the army book?

Agreed. Set a deadline and release what you have by then. The deathnell of epic projects has always been someone or other insisting something is "not quite right" so delay, typically for years as the months drag by. Doesn't need to be perfect to have a fun game (and impossible to be perfect anyway). Wait until the next edition comes around and then you can make changes, in the meantime people have something to use.

Just out of interest, does anyone know the full list of armies and their versions going into the book? I'm not 100% sure the Space Wolves list going into the book is the up to date one (2.3.1)

Cheers

Couldnt agree with this more, better to have a book with most of the armies than no book with all of the armies, seeing as its a pdf based doc anyway it can always be updated/ expanded with minimal input once you have a foundation to work off, If my vote counted for anything id even say place a a time limit IE: 1 month from not and just go to print with what we have, then have a bi annual update or the like if its needed.

Agree!

I really do wish I had more control on this as I made/finished a list for January 2011 for a January 2012 review. Now that we are coming up to 5 months past that date, I have all those months lost. If a new date is set, it will allow me to get the updates done.

Set a date. Do not worry about he/she/it not making the deadline - that is their problem and a clear indication that they should not have that (or any) list for that time period in the interests of the game progressing past a point where it has sat for 3 years now.

There will always be someone to take up the mantle of a list in the interests of NetEA development. In turn, they will always be subject to public opinion. It has been shown many times before, if a list is not liked, people will place up alternatives till the original evolves or dies. It is a good system. At present it is being choked with indecision and mistrust.
