So far I've been calling them Mega Grots (basically two grots in Ork mega armour)

Any stats for them, SG? I just have boyz stats right now as Oracleboyd suggested.

That's what E&C used in the Sun Tzork list for them too. Any 40k comparisons will have to wait until Warseer gets back up...

I hope the Grot panzers are based on the Italian Fiat L3 tankettes :)

I was thinking of something like this ... ;D

Not bad. As you know, the L3 had paper thin armour and either a heavy machine gun, 20mm cannon or flame thrower, so you could possibly mimic all three variants here. Apart from 6+ armour and possibly 25mm move, what other stats would you consider?

Are we discussing the Grommel list here, Ginger?

That is my understanding - though there do not seem to be any stats up yet, judging by the lack of response to the same question asked by you :)

If you wanted to mimic the Fiat L3 I would suggest that they might get
    Type AV, Speed 25cm, Armour 6+, CC6+, FF5+
    Heavy Bolter (or equivalent) 30 cm AP5+ / AT6+

However, if you wanted to mimic the other L3 variants, the main weapon might be either
  • AT variant :- Auto cannon 45cm AT5+
  • Flame-thrower variant :- 15cm AP4+ / AT6+ (ignore cover)

Also, because these are 'tankettes', perhaps they might not get the standard Grot rules as they are not considered expendable as such.

I am suggesting AV because the reduced number of AT weapons about will mean they should survive a little better than normal infantry - though not much better :D

- - - - - - -
The point is that while the Fiat L3 served on a wide variety of fronts and could be usefull in the right circumstances, in practice it was more of a liability and they were easily knocked out - and these Grotnoughts seem to fall into exactly the same mold IMHO :)

I'd just like to note that Ork design philosophy would assign 'big shoota' to all three variants.

Hehe I know what you mean - the 'AT' variant of the L3 was exacly that; a 'big shoota'. In reality it was initially an Anti Tank rifle that fired a 20mm 'slug', and this was up-gunned to a 20mm cannon. While that gun was really quite good, the rest of the chassis, armour etc was not.

The problem of putting anything "bigga into da chassis" is amply demonstrated by the Ferret and later Fox armoured cars:- Great in a straight line on a flat surface, but had a nasty tendency to roll over on a gradiant or when cornering too fast - with tragic consequences to the commander (who was usually stood up with his torso projecting out of the top of the car).

for the grots, I was actually thinking more along the lines of the Fiat L3/35.
It seems that the L6/40 was quite a bit better so might be used by 'Da Boyz'.

Stats for the L6/40; perhaps something approaching the Predator:-
    Type AV, Speed 30cm, Armour 5+, CC6+, FF4+
    Auto Cannon 45cm AP5+ / AT5+
    Heavy Bolter 30cm AP5+

Then again, you could always have both :)

GHQ does have an L3/35 model.

For reference, the Sun-Tzork Grot Tank is an LV, Special Move, 5+ Armor, 6+ CC, 5+ FF, with a Twin Big Shoota (30cm AP5+/AT6+). The move is 3d6cm, rolled every activation.

A bigger Grot Tank would be cool, but those stats are so close to Gunwagons that you might just as well give the Grots one of those?

This seems to overlap very greatly with the Sun-Tzork list (Which is destined for supplement-hood).

Would you like to help develop the Sun-Tzork list, possibly incorporating some of the ideas here, rather than duplicating effort?
