Yes, that is correct.

I'll point out at this time I'm not planning on detailing the interior of the panels. Ultimately, to make a fully, or even partially, interchangable set of wall panels and stuff will take a significant amount of planning. Making the panels double sided is quite possibly beyond my attention span, if not my ability, at this point. Also, my ability to make regular windows is limited at this time. That's why O-Man's windows are such a godsend. I can just cut a section of the facade out and glue it to the understructure.

If you're comfortable with a) no interior detail, and b) having to make sure the panels are straight and level yourself, the third choice is possible. I won't say I won't decide to do those things for future projects, but let me get something a bit simpler under my belt first.

I'd say option 3 all the way!

After all, to have a full block with no interior space, it would be possible to just glue the panels to a block of insulation foam, and it would even weight less!

Here's a mockup I threw together last night to see if my plan for inserting the windows would work. Dimensions are 40mm x 60mm.
Image

It's essentially a .040"/1mm backing with an exterior surface also of .040", which I traced and cut the window's shape out of. I did this from the back to make sure any slips were concealed, then framed the window with .040" x .040" strip to conceal any irregularities in the cut out. Then I added gubbins.

Final product for this one would likely have a stone textured exterior, but I have none on hand and my local hobby shop is shut down while they move to a larger location (funded largely by my plasticard sales, I'd guess).

Amazing.

It's on a mm graph? So its about 25.5mm in diameter?

Indeed.

Edit - the real timesaver in this endeavor was the symmetric nature of the window. That, and I had a good line drawing to adapt.

Clever. You've got 16-fold rotational and mirror symmetry, so you just had to detail one petal, and mirror 4 times?

The print of the rose window should arrive Thursday, then it gets to be in a mold.

Colour me interested in this – and just to be awkward, I'd vote for option B. It seems sensible to get something simple under your belt, and I'd prefer less faff on the construction front, so I can spend more precious hobby time on the armies. :)

Rose window arrived, and is most pleasing to the eye. It will soon be entombed in silicon.

Nice work on the window, are these part of a building to be be produced by the otterfordge or just building aids to add to plastic card scratch builds....
