yeah, its polar fleece cut into blobs. that way i can put it onto hills or whatever fairly easily it also has an advantage with the way i base the trees the tree bases are made from the blister packs from my last DRM and Steel Crown orders, coated with PVA glue, paint, and sand, (took a bit of fiddling to make them colour-match with the fabric, but they're fairly close) at which point i drill holes in for the trees (bought on ebay, quite cheap, but of course, you use a buttload of them) stick the trunks down, and bend them out at an angle to hold them in place while i glue them (zip-kicker is a life-saver here) after which, i chop off the excess (sneaky tip, some of the trunks in the middle of the bases are actually just the offcuts from the bottom, with the branches from the surrounding trees covering them up a bit) so theres a little bit of a lump on the bottom of the bases for each tree stump. the fleece lets that sink into the fabric a little without wobbling, and also gives the trees just a bit of grip onto the blobs aswell.
and of course, when you go to play, trees in the way can just be moved to another part of the forrest, or off the table, until they're not in the way anymore.
all in all i'm fairly happy with them.
