So I've always wanted a mega Gargant for my ork army, but friggin hate the model. So I decided to convert the crap out of one to make it more detailed, and more importantly more "Orky". Here's what I have so far. I'll do my best to log where all the pieces are coming from so you kids can follow along at home!



All the white stuff is cut plastic card and rod. The rivets are made my "mincing" a very small plastic rod into tiny discs and then gluing them into place. Warhammer shields made a nice spacer for the missile launcher platform, as well as a "neck" to put some distance between the head and body.

I cut a warboss in half and glued him onto a turret gun from another Mega Gargant model. The hatch was made with plastic rod discs. The turret gun was replaced with a 40k ork boy shoota.

All of the gun deck turrets will have their barrels replaced with a random assortment of weapons to make it all look more chaotic. Blank areas will be filled in with details such as extra plastic rod kannon and random metal plates.

I bought a set of Killa Kans and their bits will be used to deck out the Gargant with details. So far I've used a missile for the first gun deck turret, as well as shoulder plates that help widen the Gargants profile (just glued them onto the "official" shoulders, as well as arm "ball-n-socket joints" under each shoulder plate that will be used for this monsters new arms.

I never liked how the mekboy weapons are mounted on those wimpy towers, so I moved the Krooze missiles to one shoulder, while the Lobba and Lifta Droppa arm will be mounted on the other.

Anyways, that's it for now, I'll keep you posted as I make progress.

Thanks nug - I thought it was more like 6 - I would have been way off. I want to get some brass rod at lunch to extend the barrel.

Got some more work done on my Mega Gargant -



I built up the right shoulder with a plasticard platform big enough to hold the Big Lobba and MekBoy weapon crane arm. I never felt that the Big Lobba looked like it could shoot anything but the gargant it was mounted on, so I extended it out to make it look like it could actually clear its 125cm range. I used 2 sizes of brass tube to do this 3.97mm (which fits the Big Lobba perfectly) and 3.18.

I beefed up the Deth Ray by adding some spare Shook Attack gun orbs onto either side of it. They actually fit onto the prongs that are already there really well. I added an extra gun turret by the super Lifta Droppa for good measure.

I spent some time adding extra detail to the crane arm as well as a few spot on the torso thats been built so far. Now - onto the rest of the gun decks!

This is going to be awesome when it is done.
I am tempted to steal your ideas and build myself another Mega Gargant.

So I got the gun decks built and detailed. I replaced all of the turret gun barrels with a random assortment of guns from my bits box. A killa can missile, ork boy shootas, as well as some random gatling gun I found.

I always hated the fact that the mega gargant doesn't come with a belly gun like his lesser kin. So I cut an opening in the lowest gun deck and stuck an extra belly gun in there. Sure there's no rules for it, but I don't care, I don't want him to have "crotch gun envy". If you dont have a belly gun to spare, just make one using plastic card, and some brass and/or plastic rod.

I added extra armor plates and rivets everywhere I could, as well as a few extra plastic rod kannon here and there for good measure. I also cut off those ridiculous looking knives from the "bumper".

Now the next few steps are going to be fairly...radical... Stay tuned!
