I've thus far been using a couple of sets of SG's basic objective minis (the base with either a missile silo, a radar or a bunker roof), but I'm now thinking of starting to make army-specific objectives.

When you make objectives for your army, which three do you make? The three you set up yourself in the GT scenario? The three on you own half (of which your opponent places two)? Or the three on the opposing half?

For my Marines I did one that works well for the blitz (Damocles Command Rhino) and two that could easily be on my half or the enemies (pillbox and ammo dump).

People often use the bunker/silo models, or make wrecked vehicles or little "last stand" or "casualties needing rescuing" vignettes.

But, it depends on the army. Ulrik, what army/armies are you using?

Me, I've got home made bunkers I use for my IG and CSM, and pipework/fluid storage tanks for my Nurgle LatD. I'll be using the Wraithgate from the Court of the Young King pack and two other, homemade, objectives when I get to my Eldar.

If you look in the painting part of the forum, there's some great examples there. The chap from NZ with the Saim Hann has made an orbital laser for one of his. There's a couple of Chaos threads with some superb markers too.

Planning on painting for lots of different armies, Orks, Marines, Eldar, Necrons, maybe Nids. But I'm figuring that at least some of the objectives will be different depending on if I'm planning to defend them or capture them!

We just use the old SM2/TL OBJECTIVE Counters, on or next to an interesting piece of terrain ... Ruins, Stargate, temple, structure ... etc., etc. ...

Imperial objectives. Just a GW 20mm square, a GW 25mm Square, and some card.

Image

Necron Tomb Complex. GW 40mm Square and p-card. Also have some Obelisk (in the Egyptian sense as opposed to the vehicle) markers made, but not photographed.

Tyranids can use the markers from the Battle for Macragge set, which probably aren't that expensive.

Eldar objectives look good from 40k bits, again no pics yet, but I'll try to get some. Semaj may also be able to help you there.

For my IG, I use the radar station bunker for my blitz, and the two ammo dumps for the opposite side of the board. In general, a good rule of thumb for which objectives is to make/paint the ones you place.

As you might have seen in my painting thread (now on page 4 or 5 since it's been idle for a while), I use things like crashed dreadclaw, broken down rhino, or stranded leaders, as have been mentioned above.

When we play in our play group , we set up our blitz and then we swap our remaining 2 objectives with the other player so that after the remaining deployment we end up with our own made objectives on our half of the table, which i personally find a little more fluffy for defend the flag and just for visuals.
I like to make my own objectives, also due to the fact i dont actually own the GW ones.

here are some of the ones o have made for my armies

My Imperial Guard ones.

Marines, sorry about the bad photo, no daylight here at the moment and just snapped a shot off.

and this is a WIP for a Fir Iolarion Eldar titan gate, larger than the normal gates due to the capactiy to gate in titans and vechiles.

Cheers

I think that Saim-hann guardian is compensating for something... What did you use to make the radar dish?

I typically try to do objectives that could work well on either side of the board. Blitz is always some kind of command bunker though.

So for IG, I've got two bits of a crashed ship, and one command bunker. For marines, wrecked larnd raider, last stand shrine, and a command bunker. Crons are wrecked obelisk, wrecked weapons platform, and tomb complex (command bunker).

Wow Vaaish, great objectives but I can't beleive you cut up an imperial drop ship. I thought those things were like gold dust.

Here's one of my Admech objectives, a destroyed Valdor. I can't take credit for the idea though as it was shamelessly copied

I wondered, and decided no one was that crazy. Guess I was wrong.

I've had another look and I've now decided he's not as crazy as I thought, just nicely proving that one mans cast off is another treasure
