I'd do arms with elbows anyway. If they attach to the sides, theyd have a joint at the shoulder, with an "upper arm" hanging down, and either a gun in place of a lower arm and hand, or a lower arm and wrist, with a CCW for a hand. The gun attached to the shoulder joint, Urbanmech style, looks silly.

Something similar to this, but bulked up, would be the preference for side mounted arms.

I'd be doing the same for the gun arm too, of course.

Further progress. Still not sure what to do with the arms...

Quick update on the Gargant. Chose side mounted arms. I'll probably do the arm Soopagun[z] as a vertical version of the belly gun, ut with a longer barrel.

Still to do: Arms. Lots of plating with lots of rivets.

Does anyone know of a filler material with better adherance to plasticard than spackle? I'm looking at rebuilding the trenches, but would love to have masters I don't need to remake after each mold is cast.

Is there anything, or should I just keep a good resin cast to remake the molds?

You'll probably need to use some kind of putty (milli-put or the like). I'm assuming the spackle isn't strong enough to withstand being pulled out of the mold?

The Gargant looks great, like an up-sized version of the newer Stompas/Soopa-Stompa.

Correcto. It'd probably be fine except for the sand, which essentially velcros the spackel to the mold.

How much mold release are you hitting it with? And what type?

The suggested amount on the bottle. Looks like 2 "light mist coatings". I'm using the Ease Release 200 aerosol.

The plaster might be absorbing it because it's so porous. You could try spraying some glosscote over the master first then hitting it with the 200. That way it won't soak in as much.

The good news: Sucessful mold of trench line.
The Bad News: Despite glosscoating, the master didn't make it. It did help, but not enough.

I'll rebuild them with a bit more detail, and use milliput next time. At least I've got working molds now, and can cast enough trenches for my own use.

kick-ass all 'round, Ghost. The sci-fi MLRS's blend in well with the terrain. Have you thought of putting a black wash on the front and back of the rocket pods to make the holes black and simulate the burned paint from firing?

Probably should. They do have an all over wash of Badab, but another coat on the front end and by the vents probably wouldn't go amiss.
