Actually this army was finished along time ago.
All the updates now are just "those would be nice" units. I decided to not go for a second army for Epic, simply because of the lack of players and games, but instead build up a larger imperial force to have as many options as possible for the 2 or 3 games I play in a year.

I think I am now somewhere in the 5000 points range plus about another 1000 unpainted. Epic really is the only game system I paint without playing that much. With Mordheim/Blood Bowl and Warmaster I really need to play it to motivate me to paint.

This weekend wasnt as productive as expected but at least the third infantry company is now finished! Next up are their fire support bases, which are all assembled and base coated.



I am still looking for some kind of dry grass to bring a little more life to the bases but havent really found anything that fits yet.

Although it breaks my vow, I have started another Epic project. Ive ordered them a long time ago and after getting a little tired of the guardsmen and also after seeing the other great Necron armies here on the board I started my approach.

Also after getting some good feedback after a test game in our gaming group, I wanted to show them some of the other armies that are available.



They also make a great enemy for my guardsmen as they fit the desert theme quite well.

For grass, I have heard good stuff about Baccus Basing system (for 6mm fantasy). If you want to avoid grass, you can always add patches of tiny pebbles, creating a textured and more "alive" base.

Thanks for the tip Fred! Dead gras would be nice to spice up the bases a bit.

And because these robots are quickly done Ive finished all 3 phalanxes this weekend. *patsselfontheshoulder* (The lord is only a character isnt he? Or is it 6 Warriors + one unit with lord?)

They were supposed to be marked differently so everyone can tell which units which formation, but the difference between gold and dwarf bronze is not great.

The only downside of these minis is that the details that show up nicely with wash&drybrushing are on the backside. Thats why the front seems alot darker than the back. Though the none white units got a little darker than the white ones thanks to overzealous washing. Probably should go over them again with some mithril.
