Thanks to a rather productive day off on Monday I finished the Genestealsers this week. I thought they painted up pretty good.

Image

I also got a chance to try out some other colors with the red, namely the purple for the tongue. I think the pallet is going to have to be expanded for the bigger bugs and this purple is in the running for one of the secondary colors. It's rather pinkish but not "pepto pink".

Image

I also built and primed my CCC squad for MERCS. Trimming the mold lines took awhile, they're pretty well hidden but you can definitely see them in the right light.

Image

I also converted the sniper. I didn't like the t-shaped barrel exhaust doohickey and went with a standard flash suppressor/silencer look.

Image

The same goes for the trucker hat head, that came off too. Thanks to Rob for supplying the spare helmeted head.

So with my work on the MERCS figures I needed something smaller than 6mm to help me average out closer to 6mm, to that end here's some 2mm Brigade Model Land Ironclads!

Image

I've been slowly building and assembling these guys over the course of the year. The infantry crack me up, not sure I'm going to be able to do more than 3 colors on them.

Image

I really like the look of the British Ironclads though. Not sure what I'm going to use them for yet, I may give the Wessex rules a try, or maybe put together a Starmada mod or something homegrown.

Image

As for the CCC figs, I finished the black undersuit and began work on the webbing and what not this week. I think after a highlight I'm going to try some color bleeding with a dark green/brown color to tone it down.

Image

It's definitely a pain trying to get paint in certain areas though, assembling them after I painted maybe could of worked better but I'm sure that would have had its own problems.

Image

I wanted to see what the armor would like like so I started that on the Assault Leader as well. This is after a base coat and a shade.

Image

I'm planning on giving it two highlights in addition to these, we'll see how that works out next week.

I'm sure your mother's told you this already Dave, but you'll go blind if you keep that up ;)

I've noticed no negative side effects.

Work continues on the CCC, everyone got the green basecoat this week along with a wash.

Image

The Sniper and Medic also got their first green highlight.

Image

The Assault Leader is pretty far along, I need to figure out how I'm going to do the weapons. Aside from that all I need to do is paint the buckles and other metallic pieces on him along with the basing.

Image

The green I did in three highlights, I think the final highlight might be a little overdone but hopefully the Dullcoat will help that.

A bit more progress on the CCC this week. The Heavy Assault and Incinerator got their first layer of green highlights this week.

Image

I also picked up the Demo as well, and swapped out the unarmored head (again :P) with Bo.

Image

The Assault Trooper is coming along. The green is done (although looking at the closeups like this I see a few places that need a touch up) as well as the webbing. Just the weapons are left on him.

Image

Image

Same thing with the Sniper. Does anyone have any experience/tutorials on painting modern small arms? I've been looking at pics of real weapons but haven't figured our how to get the mat black yet.

Image

Image

Also, a quick poll. First, what do you think this base is? Second, on a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you think it looks like what you think it is?

minis are looking great, they have such dynamic poses, very cool.

the base to me looks like cracked pavement ? and it looks spot on 9/10 maybe some urban devris for that extra point ? rubbish or the likes ?

Cheers

Thanks Tim. I was thinking that or maybe some yellow/white lines for the base. I wonder if anyone makes 28mm soda-cans/bottles and street trash? :P

Edit: lol, found these:

LOL

He might be posed to be on the roof of a building? But your idea's good too.

License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations... Man, free to kill gophers at will...

Ya, top of a building. Hiding behind a jersey barrier, something like that.

Either that or trying to shoot a tied down rabbit:

My first impression was of an asphalt road; upon reading other's posts, a tar roof also seems plausible. In short, something with tar.

lol thats a great find, roadkill minis haha.

As for urban trash i would think its fairly easy to scratch build, cans from 2-3 mm platic tubing /Dowl ?
Paper trash from .... Paper? just coated with a clear to strengthen ?
Old models cut off there feet / hands for old shoes and gloves ?
old bricks from plastic card ?

the options are limitless really, maybe some drain grates or a man hole cover ?

lol ok ill stop rambling now. :)
