E&C designed some nice trenches some time ago as well, so Zombocom likes speaks from experience.

Aye, scenery in general does not sell well, in my experience.

It took about a year for my trenches to break even, and so far I've sold a total of just 4x city wall pieces (Each just 4cm wide).

Alright.

Fortunately they fill a need of mine first and foremost, so no loss.

Will get right to work* on the 'barque though.

* after anything else that takes my fancy.

I think that goes back to always making what you want first, then if others want it, that's a bonus :)

Myself and a friend of mine have made a ton of molds..... a TON of them. And most can be accomplished very easily. Stick it flat to plasticard and build a box around it with legos. You'll want to put tape around it also so the mold material does not leak out. This is how I've done pretty much everything (including warbarques).

That far I've gotten. Never done a two piece before, though. I guess the answer is to do a two half piece, or experiment with what works best for me.

No interest in the trenches though?

Ultimately it won't matter, as I need more than I'm willing to make by hand anyway, but raise your hand if you're interested.

Others have made really nice trenches for the strip bases. They dont sell all that well, and cutting out a chunk of your market before you even start hurts the sales you might have made.

They would make a nice trade item for me, and those like me, however. I don't want to have to make everything myself.

I'm guessing that'll be proper Lego and not cheap knock off stuff, going by the expletive laden story Bill was telling last time I saw him?

Yes.

However everything else that could go wrong did. Tryed to fit too much material into the mixing cup, and didn't mix it properly. Two of the three molds failed due to improper mixing. Blue goo everywhere. Despite using sealant and mold release the texture of the sand stuck like velcro to the mold, Pulling it off the plasticard. Both fortification masters need to be respackled. THe good news is I've got suitable backups for both.

When casting the one mold that was successful, pulled out one of the molds I completed earlier, and measured the volume out with water. Didn't dry them well enough, and got huge bubbles in the tops of both. Dryed them out and tryed again. Didn't have enough resin for the second building. so the bottom floor is only half a floor.

Still want to scream when I think of it. Almost all my fault, though. Many good learning experiences last night.

Mould making and casting takes practice.

Trust me, I'm not giving up. Just frustrated, mostly at myself. Simple, forseeable mistakes.

Here's the better cast from the mold that worked out.

Pretty good, I feel, though the floor flexes a bit. I might just redo these with some sort of floor texture to make it thicker and subsequently stronger.
