I've always felt that's a cop out, to a certain degree. I mean,
yes, it's a world where it really is feasable to destroy a battle tank with a mallet. However, it's a weapon with an obvious real world inspiration. The fluff matches the effects of the Tallboy. The shape of the weapon is very close. Even down to switching out the normal bombload for a single weapon, and the modification of the chassis by removing most of the defensive armament and modifying the bomb doors.
It's a Lancaster with a Tallboy, but
in the future! That right there, that's typical GW.
