Actually the ending in the book isn't that slow - Saruman attacks and enslaves the shire and the four hobbits come back, gather the Tooks and kick ass. Until they are facing Saruman who is finally killed by a knife in the back by Grima Wormtongue!

I'm sure the DVD release will have more. The first, FotR had 15 or so extra mins., the second TTTs, had over 40!
So I'm sure the RotK will be the same. We have to actually sit down and watch the DVD versions over a couple of weekends!

Totally OT, but there have been mutterings in various camps that Peter Jackson wants to put out his first cut as an extended version for the RotK.
If so, thats a 6 Hour movie on its own.........

Hi!
I went to see it Christmas day. Very good film. THe battle of Pellenor fields was excellent.
I must say the movie is long, but entertaining.

Well Sunday we sat down and watched "The Two Towers - expanded version" on DVD and had pizza etc. It was great ... the extra scenes added a lot to the movie! ?
Look foward to seeing the RotK on DVD... no matter how long it is! More Pizza, etc., etc.! ?
And Tas if I ever make it Down Under... it's a plan!

I would mind seeing the Hobbit movie done by the same director of LOTR. It would make for a lot better story that fits into one movie.
