Anyway, I dont have much, but any vehicles and larger stuff that I have I can throw your way. I only want the infantry for the Swarm anyhow.

I would love to see a force of these guys. When do you start? ?:;):

If I can get the models I need, I'll start in Jan after Helen goes back to Uni.

As for vehicles, drop me a PM with what you have & a price. If I find I cant get the infantry within my budget then the whole things out the window, but if I can get the inf, I'm sure a few larger bugs will be required too!

Paul,

I was planning on using Exocrines (which I forgot to list) for the big Biovores - they seem built for the task.

Leave it to me to miss the trees through the woods! Doh! :;):

I still like the idea of converting 25mm 40k Biovores for the Expectorators.

Love the idea of using Ripper Swarms for Raveners - I'll have to see if I can steal a few from my local club gamers. Over half of the club have 40K Nids, someone must have a few spare Rippers!

Knowing my luck, Jervis will love this idea (25mm Rippers for 6mm Raveners) and I'll never get any credit!

-----------------

Another note, Paul, check out the several threads about Tyranid conversions that I wrote (with help from the gang). There are some good ideas there for conversions of figures and terrain for Nids.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi!

Legion4 is correct, GWUS Mail order says they have them. Its a good cheap way to get a lot of infantry.

They are still a decent price, but the Nid sprues are half the size of an infantry spure from any other race while they cost the same (USD3.50).

I guess it comes down to what shipping ends up costing.

Hi!

True. The tyranid sprues were the last ones to come out and are smaller than the earlier ones. Then again its still plastic and relatively cheap. Always worth it.  :)

..I thought the new Chaos sprues were the very last Epic sprues released... are they in the 'small' style too?

I thought the Nid sprues were the last of the SM/TL to be released, and weren't re-worked for E40K.  That's why they are the "half" size, like all the SM/TL sprues were.

Am I mistaken?

Nope !  There was only one 'Nid sprue ever made, as I have 10 that were released with SM2 and those are the same as the E40K release. :)

Hi!

L4 is coorect. The last sprue to be "released" under e40k was the chaos one, but that is a brand new sprue when compared to the old SM2 era chaos sprue.

The last SM2 era sprue to be released with the las supplement "hive war" was the tyranid one. There is only one version, it has not been re-made. It is different from previous SM1/SM2 sprues in that its smaller, about half the size.

Sorry guys, it looks like I spoke too soon on doing Nids.

I've decided to go with the original plan and do the Orks. Whether you would still like me to do a "diary" on the forums is up to you since Shadow Hunter is already on the case. Either way I'll document it on my Mercenary Brush website so it might be easier if I dont clutter the boards :D

My reasoning:
I dont need to buy any Orks to do a force & can get new Ork pieces as part payment from fanatic for the Eldar I'm currently doing for them so it wont cost me anything. The Tyranids however would amount almost to buying a full new force and the full ?? outlay that goes with it.

Also, the Orks will be useable straight off the bat with the main set so will actually be of more use for demo games anyway.

I do hereby promise, however, that on (or before if I can get the pieces cheap) the release of the Nids, I will do a full 5000point army & keep a diary of it

Tuffskull, it will be depressing for the likes of me (probably a ratio of one guardian stand per day vs one ork warband per hour) - but my opinion is a big AYE! in favour of seeing it here. These diaries are educational (at least I'm learning a lot from mine e.g. old guardians are shorter than new ones!), and  at least in my book, any amount would be welcome.  :D

Paul,

It doesn't matter what you do. Whatever it is, I'll enjoy it if you share it. I like all of your work.

Shabbat Shalom,
