Yeh, love those necrons - great colour scheme and go really well with their bases too :D

Thanks! I mark this as one of my better failures. Some things worked out alright like the difference in shading on the top vs the underside but overall it really isn't one of the best models I've painted. I consider it a failure partly because I messed up the gold by making it too bright and was too annoyed to properly repaint it to the reddish tone and partly because I assumed I'd already cleaned the model and found a bunch of flash and other imperfections after I'd already primed it.

My goal here was to pull both from the eldar and necron influences to come up with something that was a bit different than the typical BLACK blackstone fortress. Hence, the interior is a reddish metal and the exterior is more of a bone color. To achieve the namesake black stone, I decided to leave the capstone of the pyramid black. I may yet go back and adjust a few things but here it is.

WHy is it that your "failures" look so much better than my successes?

As always Vaaish, that is a fantastic result.

LOL, thanks, but I did say one of my better failures. It's mostly a combination of poor casting, master build, and the model taking far more time than it had any right to take for painting. I got exhausted with it and the issue with the gold just topped everything off so I wrapped up the model as quickly as possible which meant I don't have proper contrast or highlights in some places.

Well, this has been a somewhat frustrating week. Last week I ran out of white primer which meant I had to make a run to the LGS to pick up more. Unfortunately, when I tried the can at home, there was something messed up with it and it clogged the nozzle within a half second of pressing down. A replacement nozzle and some fiddling failed to produce a working can. Since I'd grabbed the last can while I was there last and the next shipment was slated to come in today, I didn't get much painting done. Today when I came in, they were still out but more is supposed to arrive next week. :( In the mean time, I've started tackling a project that's been sitting on my table for some time: the Ordinatus Minorus for my AdMech army. At this point, most of the work on the chassis is done and I'm prepping to build the two Quake Cannons and CLP to go on top but I thought I'd go ahead an post an in progress shot for now. There are two more identical models not shown here (though both of those are lacking the turrets which are currently in a mold waiting for the GS to cure.

Maybe a bit large for 2DC, but don't let that stop you; it looks fantastic! Will you do Majoris in a similar manner, but with two Macaroni chassis? I'm seriously considering pilfering this idea...

I think if you factor in the Void Shields and that these things are supposed to be glorified tractors it'll be ok. It's a bit longer than a FW baneblade but not as wide or tall so it appears a good bit less massive which is hard to see without a size comparison. Since it is based on the Macaroni chassis which is 2 DC as well, I think the slightly larger size with the control sections move to the hydra chassis shows that there isn't much crew area in back without making to too large.

As for the Majoris, I have no idea yet, but it'll be a ways off I think.

Another little update, finished up the main cannon today minus a brass etched imperial eagle I hope to acquire soon. For those unfamiliar with it, it's my take of the old titanicus quake cannons. This leaves the gun mount to do and the two quake cannon minorus will be done.

wow, stunning painting vaaish. I just hope I get some of my Eldar done before you thoroughly impress/depress me with yours :)

BTW, what do you use to seal your painted models? I have some matt (he he he) Acrylic Sealer from Michaels but I've always been a little scared to use it..
