are you using Chris' gold pen method? That seemed like a relatively quick way of doing something so tedious.

I really like your Chaos stuff. Although the discs look a bit empty without highlights, I really like that colour. I will have to pick up a bottle. The daemonettes look fine to me, perhaps the bases could do with a second element, as someone else suggested.

I also like your Warmaster and BFG stuff. I have been pondering starting a Warmaster army for some time now, I just cannot decide which one.

The termies look ace so far.

Thanks, man. The main things I would consider with warmaster armies are the type of lists and the quality of the models. The vampire counts, undead, orcs, skaven, etc. are all horde armies and those skeletons cost the same as chaos warriors. So, if you don't want to buy/paint a ton of models, you may want to go with Chaos or high elves. Also, the VC are a more newly-sculpted army, and some of the molds aren't up to snuff compared to say, the empire. There are still a lot of cool models, it's just that they're not as sharp as some of the earlier stuff. The dark elves I saw at the tournament were really nice. For a while I thought "elves riding dinosaurs... really?" but in person they are great models.

I put a drybrush of old rose on the meat puppets, so they look a bit better now. However, I still need to figure out the detail colors.

MtM: no, I'm just using a brush - that probably would've been a good idea, but too late now.

Sweet talkin' won't make 'em ease up on the squats one bit. :-*

Who said anything about using my Squats to blow your Chaos horde to smithereens? I'll be just as happy to do it with my Ad Mech army. ;D

The Masked Unit has been found! Originally desgined to tower over 28mm figures, he stands 37mm tall. PrintAPart can print him for $23 plus $7 in shipping.

He can be shrunk, I guess, but not too much before detail is lost. His pose is also rather static.

Edit - if I combine him with another print job, the price drops to $11 and $0 (since I'll be paying the shipping).

So, it's been a couple weeks since the last update to this thread, mainly because real life gave me a few too many figurative kicks to the groin and I just wasn't in the mood for painting.

But enough whining - on to the painting.

I finished the gold and silver on the termies. This is them after that tedious undertaking was done:

Then there's the completed meat puppets (daemonic beasts with a slaanesh-flavored paint job)*:

They're all set except for the flocking on the base. I just drybrushed some more old rose on 'em and declared them done.

* what does slaanesh flavor taste like? I don't think I want to know :-X

Those terminators were of course way too flashy, so this is them after touch-up and a black wash:

And this is a close up of the two lord bases:

The one on the right makes me think of Elton John's appearance with a bunch of feathers on his back on the Muppet Show way back when. "rocket maaaaaann..."

you know, when you're 70 and your grandchildren ask "why are you so blind grandpapa" you can easily point them to this thread.

And if someone kicks you in the nuts, give 'em a good kick in the nuts back, that'll teach 'em.

Oh, and given the fact that I'm going sledding tonight on the icy hill of doom (with icy river of death at the bottom), this may be my last snarky comment, evah! Well, perhaps not, but I'm aiming for the dramatic..

Some small, but significant, updates today. First up, Icon bearers, ready for basing:

And the rest of the dreads, for now:
