Why not just get parity across all lists and ACs to say DC four or below just dies - kaput?

Problem is, people have had a good thing for too long, and now they do not want to let go.

I really see no reason for it to stagger and die, however if that is the way it goes, I don't have a real issue with it.

Because that's not gonna happen. Simples.

I dislike the increased lethality to those who are killing it - before the stagger was 6+ to kill the ants with melta bombs.

Why not?

I mean, it is the same unit/model/thing.

edit: AdMech versions may have 'extra's' in my opinion opposed to 'normal' variants.

Ork Stompa and Eldar Revenant Titan... are they really in need of a nerf?

Why not?

If it is needed to gain a simple compromise and give 'boundaries' for all lists that DC4 or below is instant kill, how is this a bad thing?

It would at least present some structure to an already chaotic system of list design. Having a force with something different only allows others to make feeble excuses as to why their list should be different as well.

Criticals don't have to be the same across the board. Having different critical effects makes the game more interesting and requires little effort to learn.

Or schmuck out on the unit as the example is with Warhounds. The non-instant kill really lends itself to abuse in comparison to other WE of the same class.

If I do a quick run through of the official lists, you have the supa-stompa which is DC4 and power fields, the revenant which is dc3 with holofields, and Warhound with VS. None of these blow up on a critical. Stompa gets -1 with shooting, revenent loses its holofield, and the warthound staggers. The key thing here is that all three have some form of shield mechanism to boost their DC3/4. Once you look at war engines that don't have a shield mechanism, instakill becomes standard for their WE criticals. That says that not all DC3 WE are in the same class. Besides, it's not even that hard to take a warhound down so why is a short cut warranted and why does it lend itself to abuse?

...and that is where I differ. Official list does not mean balanced or finished IMO. It just means we needed something out there for people to play and we own the rights.

I much prefer community debate. It does not mean I am right however. It just shows I have an opinion ;)

It would be harsh on the Revenants. They are likely to be BTS and if a crit were to auto destroy one of them then I can't see anyone, and I do mean anyone, taking them in a GT style game.

Then, lol, make Wraithbone the same as Space Marine adamantium. It is just as hard. ;)

How about just making it all five.
1 = stagger die
2-3 = Blows up
4-5 = Loses one DC
6 = Nothing

That's more like the other titans, is flavorful, and makes everyone equally happy/unhappy.

Although this may have been posted 'tongue in cheek' it does remind me of many fond 40K games 10 odd years ago. Hell, why not adopt it :D

It was tongue in cheek as I really don't want to change it, but if we're going to change something we might as well make it cool. The same method is used on crits for Reavers and Warlords so there is precedent for it - Warhounds would just have different results of the die roll.
