What's up with these chimerae?

The E:A Chimerae I have don't look like this - they're fat asses with all kinds of storage on them.

Does anybody know if the more recent Chimerae are these smooth sided versions? Or is the picture simply inaccurate?

The EA Chimera are one piece hull and tracks with separate turrets, all the same. They do have storage on them though. At least Matt's do:

The picture is inaccurate I guess. I have some spare tracks like that though.

Were they recent purchases? What I'm dancing around here is if SG modified the Chimerae in the last few years.

*sniff* such a beautiful sight, my precious guardsmen. Judging by the deployment, I think its a raven guard playtest with corner deployment, in which case they are about to get slaughtered...

Those are at least 2 years old, but Dave would have a better idea, since I got them second-hand through him.
I second that: the pic is quite inaccurate. The turrets look like a different style too.

I don't think they've modified it, no. I know there used to be Predators with Blood Angel markings on them kicking around but that's the only model I know of that got re-molded. I bet that's a stock pick from the E40k days.

Guard actually won in points that game Matt. :P

Ha! that is really funny. I actually had a shade of doubt before I wrote the slaughtered remark, but thought I must be right... :D

It is a stock pic from the E40K days - like many of the promo photos at the time of E:A release, they decided that pic was good enough that they didn't need (me) to do a new one. but I cant comment on the current chimera designs - all mine are E40K era or FW :)

These thingies cost almost $5 each here in the States, and almost 3 pounds in the UK.

Wouldn't a more fair price for an APC be $3?

Oh God, if GW (or anyone with lots of spare Chimaeras) were to sell them at that price, I'd be a happy, happy man. ;)

I would assume so and I think so. Some of the guys in my group have them, I will investigate. But I would want them looking like that if I bought them...

It would indeed.

On a unrelated side note, the next time I order Cheese from you I might add some American Pepperoni Circles as well if there available... ::)

Without a doubt. It would also be cool if we had a choice of turrets.

Pertinent comment, I like APC's that have sides like GW's Chimeras. I'd get a number of them if GW re-sculpted theirs to match the sides on the 40k model.
