Quote (primarch @ 04 2003 Dec.,20:36) | Hi!
Have there been any other changes in the fluff recently?
Primarch | Well, do you count the Machine god turning out to be a Necron C'Tan & the Adeptus Mechanicus deciding to continue worshiping it...... not that it could be anything major of course - it hasnt had any implications whatsoever in the following fluff!
GW obviously decided it might get too close to an interesting plot for a GW universe so has since ignored what they said about it.

Don't you count on orks being mushrooms as a major change? It is quite a bad one IMO but hey, it is a major one.
The squats disappearing, the Tau popping up, the Necrons appearing as well, Khorne turning from a martial god of combat and the bersekers being a special unit in his forces being turned into the god and line troops and babbling and mindless killing instead of honopurable combat.... quite some changes recently in fact.
Health and a lot of sixes,
Xavi

I think the Tau, Necrons and C'Tan are all good things to be added to the 40K Lore, for many reasons.

Pity is that Tuffskull is right, the Necron Codex gave some interesting views, which appear to have been abandoned. The 4 surviving C'tan - two of which have reappeared, one is stashed in Mars (remember the shroud raid on Mars?) and the fourth somewhere 'beyond'.. | Agreed L4, variety is the spice of 40K/EA/BFG.

I'm just tired of the "new threats". There's been nothing but new threats in the last few years. So many in fact that "new threats" are starting to ooze out of my ears already. I want Imperium to start kicking some serious a**!

And I consider even the Machine God itself to be a bad change. I like far more the generic "cult mechanicus" of Rogue Trader and Space Marine 1. Back then they just worshipped technology itself and not some god entity.
And I don't like mushroom Orks either. Back in the good old days they were marsupials and actually had females.

I think the C'Tan add a bit of cosmic mystery, and rival the Chaos Gods, which are nothing but arcane, gothic aliens anyway, almost in the Lovecraft mind set. But the Imperium does need to kick some serious alien butt ! Form CATO, use WMDs and get some !

Hi!
One of GW success strategies is that of providing new items every so often and more important turning over their customer base so they can sell remade old stuff to new people.
Its quite brilliant when you think of it in business terms, they just remarket things to people who dont have their stuff and phase out the older customer.
Pretty damn smart.

Hi!
From a gamer persepctive, I cant stand them, but from a businessman perspective they know how to shake people down for those extra bucks!

I have the 40k 3rd Ed rules (which I hate :S), the WFB 6th Ed rules (which IMHO are the best warhammer rules to date, just suffers from crappy army lists).
Yet have not played a game of warhammer or 40k in a decade.
2nd Ed rules were pretty good back then (they had just come out). But now days - VOID is the way to go!
