Most of the lists I've been seeing here seem to concentrate on Devastators and Assault detachments rather than Tactical marines. Is this simply a case of specialised troops being better in the hands of experienced commanders (or to put it another way, the flexibility of Tactical marines is not as easy to capitalise upon), or is there another reason?
I've read some suggestions here and there that attempted to rebalance this (mainly by up-pointing Thunderhawks and de-pointing Tacticals*). Has anyone playtested these tweaks? How did they work?
*Plus adding walker to Vindicators

I must say most lists in tourney play in the UK include a tactical detachment as an all rounder, for AA and very resilient BTS.
However I haven't seen anyone use more than one very successfully. With that detachment as a base specialist and activation boasters seem to be preferred.
