I think I'd go "Tunneller" over "Teleport" for it's special ability... but the rest looks pretty good.

Yeah, not sure I think "Armoured Insects" when I think Necrons though... the Tomb Spyders only hint at being "spiders", they're still strange and alien... the Tomb Stalker... looks like a bug.

And I *love* the confused disinformation the GW/FW/Fans spread about these things before release. *LAUGH*

Actually, I would've liked to have seen something as an upgrade kit for the Monolith, to make some other floating block of death for the Necrons... there are so many Guard and Marine kits out there, would've been neat to see a "Megalith" or Warbarque-type unit.

Totally agree with you there. I find it a odd choice indeed, but If they really wanted a Tomb Spider ish MC than they should have kept to the theme of spiders....Silly GW

I agree, reminiscent of an earwig. I have no idea how to build that damn thing. Should I build it flat, or curved as shown in the picture?

Also, it doesn't seem to be for sale or pre-order yet.

Yeah, but that's just a fan-built one-off... that looks horribly top heavy. *laugh*

Would've been *AWESOME* if they'd made the Obelisk though...

Three generic, "posable" middle sections, and then a head and tail! SIMPLICITY!

I'd stick with Teleport.

Scarabs are scarab beetles.
So tomb stalkers are Earwig beetles. :)

Indeed. A ball and socket joint would allow for curved or straight construction. Maybe not the raising into the air variant as shown, but who knows?

The really simple option is to model it on a pre-modeled base, and fill underneath the body and the legs. You'd be able to cast it in relatively few parts, though it wouldn't look incredible.

Don't Necrons have enough teleport? Give 'em something different!

Scarabs are thematically appropriate to the Egyptian/Persian influences that inform a lot of the Necrons... I'd rather have seen a "Tomb Scorpion" or "Tomb Sphinx"... than a "Tomb Earwig"... with a slight organic shaping, this current model could easily be mistaken for a Tyranid.

All in all I like it, but here's what I'd have done different:

I would have ditched the antennae. Necrons have clean/sleek line and the antennae disrupt that.

I would have used a simple curve for the edges of the armor plates where they overlap the next plate.

The model is clearly inspired by a centipede; I was thinking a millipede would have been a better analog. Centipede legs are splayed, millipede legs are under the body, more like how tomb spiders are arranged.

I also would have made the legs better match the legs of the tomb spider: flatter, simpler, and less busy than these.

The head would be more like a tomb spider as well: flat faced with eyes only on that flat face.

Finally, I would have modeled it rearing up more vertically, like this:

Weird - I brought up a unit idea on another Necron thread when we were discussing a Tomb World variant list. A short millipede is what I had envisioned (like the Starcraft Protoss vehicles, if anyone remembers those).
