Also, could you explain the thinking behind dropping a unit in each of the platoons - in Honda's list they are 8 strong, but yours are 7 strong.

The flyer rule, I surmise, will result in ruin. LordI tried something similar with the Inquisition lists and it was universally hated. I personally found his rule much easier to digest than this flyer rule, but I still declined to support it. Why? Because it makes no sense to have it in this list and not in every list that has the Valkyries/Vultures/any highly maneuverable aircraft. It is really a deficiency in the existing rule system that leaves a gap between skimmers and aircraft, but it is best left for a game system overhaul.

The rest of the changes, at the very least, wreak havoc on people who have been collecting and making models for the Elysians. No support sentinels, changes in formation sizes, all have major impacts on people's lists. I'm not saying we're stuck with the formation sizes we have, only that you should consider the implications.

@Flyer: I agree it would be best left for a game system overhaul. But we both know that this will never happen.
So it is a representation of the Elysian way of fighting their wars.

@formation sizes: I don`t know of many people collecting Elysians. If there where 5 i would be really surprised.
The Support Sentinel isn't in Imperial Armour 8 anymore but we get Tauros and Tauros Venators. But converted models can be used as "ordinary" Drop Sentinels.

I really can't see any justification for either 'flyer' or 'independent transport'. Both have no place as special rules but are tinkering with the mechanics of the game. To me they can only be adopted if the mechanics of EA are changed not as a special rule.

Both concept have been brought up and rejected several times and trying to get them into the game via the backdoor of a list special rule just makes that list not a viable list IMO.

IIRC the restriction that a non-WE formation canonly transport one foreign formation was mentioned in the old thread about non-WE transports. IIRC it never received an answer and the threead died down.

No the idea of battle-taxis has come up several times -usually in relation to Land Raiders, and has always been overwhelmingly rejected. It produces so many issues within the game for many different lists.

Why would just elysians have this rule? and why are there valks+vults different from the norm?

I have yet to see a potential abuse of "battle-taxis".

The Valks+Vults are different because:
Valkyrie: I was never fond of the one-shot nature of their Rocket Pods. Even Manticores hav only slow-fire.
Vulture: The model and Wh40k rules has them armed with a Multi-laser and not an Autocannon.

If it was allowed game wise I'd certainly take as many rhinos + falcons as possible and then use them to go round picking up remnants of formations such as left over exarchs to then recycle them as an assault formation in the 3rd turn

Quite apart from that I can't see how it can be introduced as a special rule for a specific list which has no reason over many other lists to have it - if it were to be adopted it would have to be as an EA rule, and then you would have to recalculate the points of the majority of EA formations.

For vultures+valkyries surely they need to be changed in the base SL IG list - variants shouldn't have different stats

To me these rules are what you would like EA to have and really aren't suitable to be army specific rules

Have you actually read my version? The Decicated Transport formation can only carry ONE formation. And only if it can fit entirely in the Decicated Transport formation.

This Decicated Transport ruleis actually needed in order to have Flyer work with the Valkyrie formation in the way i intended it. Thats the Valkyries fly in from reserves drop their Drop Platoon and fly off. IN subsequent turns they can pick up Platoons to re-insert them in later turns.
Both with the option to remain on the table as ground units to give supporting fire over prolonged time.

For now this is only possible with War Engine Aircraft Transports and then these remain immobile after landing while the Flyer-Independent Transport combo keeps being mobile.

Fair enough missed that about 1 formation

The rest still stands - these are 100% unsuitable as list specific rules.

It`s the Elysian way! :D

But yes it could be a better fit as a game addition. But so far only Space Maerine and Chaos Space Marien armies would be affected. And only of the (Chaos) Land Raiders would be given Independent Transport.
For every other army you would need to introduce a new formation which really i see not happening and isn't nessesary.
