Thanks all. I am slowly getting the Terminators done. They should have been finished this weekend however renovations to a house needed to be done (and still need to) ::)

I am hoping to have most done this weekend with only the Character stand (Skull Lord) to do - this one requires quite a bit of conversion work as I am modifying the models to have a storm hammer, a power axe and a third with a Lightning claw.

More as I get it done.

Cheers...

I am not as skilled as some of the people on this site, but you have to start somewhere right?

Here is my attempt to Chaos-ify my World Eater Terminators Support weapons even further.

I am, really hoping to have the base troops (and maybe the heavy weapons finished and based this weekend. Then I can work on the character stand.

Impressive :) But i should have started with a black blob, then a smaller blue blob and last the white circle and fangs.
But the difference would be only noticeable on such close up pictures like yours above ;D

Stupid question to ask at this stage perhaps, but would it be worth doing little WE decals? SM shoulder pads are quite accessible and you do have a lot to do for the army... But they would be small though, so I don't know if the small decal is a worthwhile trade-off against the small freehand!

Nice work on the sculpting though; you have more patience than me to do daemonic faces on weapons for 6mm Termies! :P

I do have the paper and the prints all ready to go, and then I made the decision for freehand for the following reasons:
- decals at 6mm would be quite fidly
- The rounded edge of a 6mm shoulder pad may cause issues
- They would all look the same and perfect

I actually like the dirty and uneven element to each model as it displays a sense of the degradation of the Legion (I hope). :)

At 6mm and on a gaming table, it does not look at all uneven as in these Macro pics.

You could do the symbol without a circle around the world. I used the alternate WE symbol (circle with separate squared-off jaw above and below) on my Dreadnought and WE land raiders. It's on my photobucket page if you want to see it. I can't link it coz work's blocking PB.

It's basically a rectangle, paint in the teeth "lines" refill the gap between with the background colour, then pain in a circle for the globe. Kinda like a globe sandwich :D

Hey! I have that pic saved somewhere - doh!

That is very good. I think I am past that point however - I just went the massed ink, but I will review the symbols and make a decision this weekend. Most likley, seeing I am lazy, I will just leave them as is :D

I really need to finish these guys and get a head start with the Khorne Support Engines to give me time in Oct/Nov to spend making up the Chosen (my favourite formations). By my last example list, I need about 5 formations of those guys! :-\

Assuming that you varnish afterwards, you might be able to draw on a sign like Dobbsy's just by using a 0.05mm pen, rather than a brush. Might speed it up on infantry.

Why do the simplest ideas escape me? ::)

Just test the pen first though! Get something like a scrap of painted plasticard, varnish it and then scribble on it.

I used some fine-tipped permanent pens years ago to do the Teutonic crosses on the my Knights' heraldry (the blue/yellow scheme like the TL boxed set models) after I read the suggestion in an issue of WD... The ink went on fine, but after a few days, I saw that it had 'bled' across the surface. I painted over it and then freehanded the crosses with paint, but the pen kept coming through the layers of paint! I ended up having to scrape the areas back down to bare plastic, re-undercoat and repaint... Not a good experience, and one that I will personally never repeat. :-\

So as I say; make sure you test the pen first!

You can buy special pens that are meant to be good for models. I haven't used it in years but I've got an 'Edding 1800 Profipen 0.1' which is black and has a 0.1mm nib to write with. I picked it up in an art and craft shop.

*looks at models, then looks at the Major's bad experience, and decides to keep them as they are*

One of my mates commented on the minis tonight wondering how I painted the detail on the shoulder pad. Heh! If he likes it, so will others so I am going to be lazy and leave it :)
