There's always Spikey Bikes MG, those are pretty good proxies. I believe Jonluke was working on a spikey robot for Cal too, not sure what the status of that is.

The Preds and Rhinos had a 3-part hull, with spikes on the side panels. Preds had 2 sponsons and a turret as well. LR was similar to the Preds, but I can't recall if the spikes were integral or separate pieces.

I recall 4 variants of each, but that's pure memory and I make no claims that it's definitely true.

All Chaos tanks had a hull and separate sides/tracks.

E40K Gargant prototype before the Box-Gant won out? The head certainly has an E40K feel.

That gargant is a MkII, iirc. SM1 era, ca. 1990.

Looks like a metal version of the older resin gargants to me.

Certainly not E40k though, as much of the range was designed and sculpted by Tim Adcock, and he was given quite a lot of room to reinvent many of the Epic models if IIRC. He's the man we have to thank for the boxy and riveted-strap detailing on many of the current Epic models.

So it was an unreleased version with a similar look to the resin Gargant build done by Monolith for GW? The sculpt certainly wasn't done by Kev Adams; it's far too clean & the sharp angular detail on the head is what made me think E40K.

ah. thats where the parts came from. A while back I purchased a box of bits that contained a lot of these weapons and leg guards that I didnt know where they came from.

Keep in mind I'm not 100% sure it's the MkII from that pic.

The resin gargant you reference is the MkI. The MkII followed, looking much like that pic and far less tennis-ball-with-armor-plates than the MkI.

I think the MkI and MkII both had limited releases. I've certainly seen a lot more of them floating around than the unreleased Warlord titan prototypes.

Agis Neugebauer painted the un-released epic chaos warlord. I just checked however, and I cant find any pics on his site (http://agisn.de but there are lots of other pretty pics if you're interested!)

I got the un-released chaos dreds & bikes to paint up. back in '03 I think. They were before I was properly painting on commission, were rushed, and generally I wish I could re-paint them, even if the sculpts (conversions...) weren't the greatest.
