That just reinforced my opinion that the entire line of E40K Chaos vehicles are silly.

The tail is more Chaos Poodle-esque than Chaos Titan. Yip! Yip!

I actually liked the chaos land raider, mainly because having the lascannons in a top-mounted turret makes far more sense than mounting them in side sponsons

I like that one because of the different design. If I ever make a non-ordered lans machine, it will probably use that as the basis.

Some happy modeller, with an eye towards Epic, produced just such a Chaos Land Raider for 40K.

Good intel !! But I always thought that was a conversion ... rather than a production model ... but I could be wrong ... I have that issue of Epic 40,000 mag(I have all ten !), but barely remember it ...

I thought it was a conversion too... I might go and reread that article, I think I have this E40K mag issue somewhere...

I must say that I wouldn't be very interested in conversion kit for the current FW / GW range. They are nice models (SG warlord and FW Warhound, I mean, the FW reaver looks like a badly sculpted statue), but now that I've seen truescale, I don't think I'd want more of these that I already have.

I would be mightily tempted by Lucius pattern truescale stuff, though.

Still waiting to see Jonluke LWR plans come to fruitition...

I have two or three copies of that Epic Chaos Land Raider (I really like it!), but reading that WS thread reminds me why I never visit sites like WS, BoLs or B&C any more - too many asshats who get all hissy and stupid over a game whose rules have more holes than a sieve.

Seriously, I doubt most of that thread's respondents have any idea about how the poor guy even played his model in the Tourney! To label him a cheater like that is harsh beyond words.

Anyway, going back to the limited release E40k Chaos models, I'll have a dig tonight. I'm sure I have a picture of all the Chaos Rhinos, Land Raiders and Predators, but from memory I think it was: 4 Rhinos, 3 Preds and 2 Land Raiders.

Other unreleased Chaos models were officially modified from the E40k/EA Dreadnoughts and Bikes - Tuffskull painted some for GW, but GW scrapped the Chaos release right after he was done painting them. So we have some pics of them, but that's it AFAIK. Shame as I quite liked the look of them too...

Yeah, I read through that thread someway through. Glad I don't play 40k these days, seems like the game has been debased by far too many powergamers and people crying foul over the slightest tweak to the basic plastic kits even though the models depicted are official!

Aside from the rhino/LRs, Tuffskull has pictures of the dreads and bikes on his site, but as with this titan they look like they were basically just imperial models with a bit of greenstuff smeared on them in places (eg imo we didnt miss much just look at the bikes!) apart from 1 of the dreads which looks rather nice http://hobbybrush.com/scifi/6mmepic/eastudio/

The bikes were very lazy resculpts, but the Dreads had a little more work and were pretty cool IMO. I would have bought a blister or two of each I think.

There was a FW early-stage sculpt of the Heirophant Bio-Titan floating around that was supposed to compliment a possible upcoming GW 'Nid release, but that was cancelled very early on, and I believe FW were told not make any thing new for Epic.

Basically though, these were late-stage projects that never gained much traction, and when GW decided not to support EA properly any more, these were all cancelled. Even though fans asked for re-releases of the E40k Chaos and 'Nid stuff, one of the big deciders was that GW HQ felt that the models didn't really look enough like their current 40k counterparts any more and refused. The one point where the did eventually cede to pestering was the re-release of the E40k Chaos plastic sprues - on the basis that they were pretty 'current' and that they could be combined with the existing range of SM models to make a fairly current-style traitor Marine force.

Not cancelled, it was completed.

So was a Scythed and Barbed Hierodule.

However that week they were trying out a new moulding silicone, and it reacted with the plasteline they'd be sculpted in, destroying the masters. Ooops. :-)

Ah, now that is news to me! I only ever saw the early WIPs and then heard the project was scrapped... I never realised they were finished and reached moulding stage at one point!
