Has anybody done the math on component pricing for the Chaos sprue? It's probably the only production sprue with a lot of high value parts on it. Might they be worth to purchase, split and sell separately on Ebay. I think I saw somebody do this a few years ago when the sprue was released.

A british guy does it every so often. Chaos Terminators and Berserkers make the money for him it appears.

On a different topic, how many WE/Berzerler stands would you consider necessary for a decent 3k WE force?

The real questions are do they have to be berserker minis and how many to a base? You have to remember that in the list, Khorne Berserkers and World Eater Legionaires are seperate units and therefore you can cut your requirements for 'berserker' minis down to half if you model them differently - I use berserkers for both, purely because I can with the minis I have...

In any event, for a 3K list, I generally have 2 formations of Bersekers (16 stands), and then I have my Chosen (2x formations), and then go from there. So your 16 stands are fine IMO, and if you model Khorne Berserkers and WoE Legionairres as different units, you potentially have 4 formations worth!! Drop that on an enemy deployment and start counting up the casualties :)

I already have a decent sized Khorne Black Legion and LatD contingent so I think I could probably puzzle together a dedicated WE force if not for lack of Berzerkers. I think I can scrape together 16 Berzerker stands (with Rhinos for all), 8 Biker, 6 Terminators, 8 Juggers, 2 Defiler/Slaughterfiends, 1-2 of each of the Daemon Engines, a Lord of Battle, 2 Greater Brass Scorpions and 4 Blood Slaughterer. How many more Berzerker stands would I need in my opinion?

The above is fine. If you intend on using Chosen as I do, you may consider 2 more defilers/slaughterfiends (you will need two more as a minimum anyway if you want a defiler formation), and make sure you can get a hold of 4 Doom Blasters and/or 4 Cannons of Khorne as these are awesome units. If they are too expensive or hard to find, start scratch building. They are extremely useful for a World Eaters force.

I really like Blood Slaughterers however I really have trouble fitting them into a list due to overall costs. Bikers, Terminators and Juggers are all in good numbers. I am not a big fan of the Brass Scorpion stats, however 2 is better than one if you were to ever use them.

Hope this helps

Cheers.....

Thanks for the explanation.

I was already counting regular WoE stands (I have 8 plus 2 character stands of those) and Berzerker stands (I have 8 of those). So only two formations at best. So I guess I will need a few more Berzerker based to create those two Chosen formations.

I already ordered two more defiler so that's done. I have six Doom Blaster and 6 Cannons of Khorne so I guess I am fine in that area. Though why the Blood God needs cowardly shooty stuff is beyond me :)

I think it is more of a case of punishment. Place a "killing machine" inside a construct with no arms and no legs and you get one pretty angry dude. If all they have is a weapon, then the only way they can express themselves is through shooting - hence the punishment and the shame.

Well that's my story so I am sticking to it :)

As I still have aq fair bit of conversion work to consider in regards to the Chosen and Possessed formations, I decided to start on some big point formations to buy me some time.

Hence the Terminators have been started:

I did run into a little 'hiccup' as I started to get arguementative with myself and insist on autocannons and other heavy weapons for the termies. I have ended up starting to convert the below by lengething the guns and increasing the barrels:

I am also going to experiment with green-stuffing those weapons to give them brass coverings and the like to really give it that old school 'rogue trader' Chaos feel

That is a good idea. I have 32 models (8 bases of 4) to all make unique so I will also use that idea. Thanks ceimeifukan. I am also playing with the idea of mini skulls on the armour.

I am also currently trying to decide how I am going to get the World Eater symbol on the right shoulder pads. I did think of transfers, however I just may give free-hand painting a go.

Originally these were meant to be a quick paint job. Now I realise these alone will take me a whole month to do the way I want. :(

Khorne symbols are reasonably easy. Here's how I did it for my 40K berserkers...

GS a rectangle and cut out/press-in 4 triangles > on the left; < on the right; v on the top; and an equilateral triangle in the middle. Then you just cut/nick lines at the bottom of the rectangle for the teeth shapes

So sort of:

-v-
- > <-
/_ ^_\
""""""""

You can kind of see the symbol shape in there. :)

Thanks Dobbsy. I saw your banner and I was thinking much the same

The real angst is the World Eater symbol of the world being eaten and doing it 20+ times. No doubt it will drive me bonkers :D

I painted ther World Eater symbol on my one and only painted Khorne Berzerker unit. At thuis scale it looks more like a white dot with a small blue dot on it.

If you want some variance in the Termies, perhaps try adding in some of the normal plastic Loyalist Termies, and do arm/spike swaps between them so that you get some variety?

Also, swapping the powerfists for chainswords (would be chainfists really) and thunder hammers on some models would look good (and you can then use some of those powerfists for you power armoured troops?).

It's a slow process with real life happening all around me however small steps throughout the month should see these guys getting done:

I cut off the ammo strips and placed blades under-slinging the bolters. I may greenstuff some of these to be chainblades.
Image

And a closer look. I used some Dark Eldar spikes that just happened to be lying around from a Blood Bowl project from last year
Image

Here are some of the longer barreled guns, some of which may also end up with some blades
Image

and finally the Arnie amigos who love to cut the grass with their guns (what me hide? har har har. get outta that grass!)

Also happy to advise that the Daemon Princes are almost at a point of being primed. Identical poses with weapons and representing the winged and non-winged versions.

Just a little more greenstuff and I will start to plan for their own bases
