Horizon, no the cruisers came with 6 of the Zac batteries but I wanted to use the GW spares I had. Partly because they match the prow a bit better and because I've got plans for those other batteries.

Landing Craft - I am in the process of assembling one of mine, can you reveal how the bulking up was done? So far I have put in a hinge for the front ramp and when i get some magnets I will magnetise the rhinos, however doesn't do much for the central spine though.

I can try... it's been quite some time since I worked on this.

Image

The highlighted areas where what I constructed. I believe I started out with 3.2mm square plastic tubing along the entire length of the ship. At the rear, near the engines, I put some pieces of round plasticard rods on either side to fill the space. I took the 3.2mm square and put two pieces side by side and glued them together for the front with a piece of half round rod to cover the gap. cut these off at an angle and filled the hole with putty. made another little bit to taper it into the singe piece and provide a place for the metal rod that runs the length of the single square piece. did a third layer of the 3.2mm square only up by the front of the craft and used some thin plasticard strip for detailing it and the other areas on the craft to match the feel of the rest of the lander. Made a few shims on either side to fill the space where the lander's clamp arms meet the body. The last thing was a few plasticard bits on the rear underside to fill the obnoxious hole by the landing gear and to make a couple of turbine bits to sit in the engine inlets.

I think that's everything, hope it helps!

Time for another update. This time I'm finishing up a battlebarge. I tried to pull back on the weathering a bit this time around since the ship is supposed to be so massive. In any event, this completes the space component of the IF force for Cal. I've never really though the model was all that nice from the photos I'd seen of it, but after working on it I've got to say it has much nicer lines than I first thought. Just a few odd bits I might change should I ever convert one. I'm also including a group shot with the strike cruiser.

Enjoy. Next up, necrons or IF thunderpidgeons :)

Mate,

They turned out fantastic, absolutely fantastic. The washes look excellent, a well weathered pair.

Cheers
Aaron

Thanks! the hard part I've found in painting yellow isn't painting it, it's taking pics of it. If my white balance is slightly off or I try to use HDR on larger models it really knocks the yellows into a bad place if I'm not careful.

Very good looking ships. When I see them I am peeking to my ships with the slight hope of playing BFG again...

I'm back with the start of the necrons I've been collecting for the last bit. I'm trying to knock out two of the three phalanxes this week. The second is going to get a rather compressed painting tonight and tomorrow. That will take care of the bulk of the infantry leaving a couple stands of pariahs, some wraiths, and all the tomb spiders before hitting the armor.

Those glowing green guns are great!

Any chance of a quick how to for dummies?

Beautiful necrons :)

They look very close to the ones I've finished painting this last days ;)
