Also of course given the poor nutrition of the 40k world, it is quite likely that the average height of a soldier is around 5'6"

Quote:
The average height for an early 17th-century English man was approximately 5’ 6". For 17th-century English women, it was about 5’ ½". Average heights in England remained virtually unchanged in the 17th and 18th centuries

...or give their height, for many documents; people in the early 17th century did not. The one exception was the military musters, where the height of a man determined what weapon he was fit to use. The "Men and Armour for Gloucestershire in 1608, " for example, divided the men both by age groups and height. The four catagories were "tallest stature fitt to make a pykeman," "middle stature fitt to make a musketyer," "lower stature fitt to serve with a Calyver" and "meanest stature either fit for a pyoner [foot soldier, laborer], or of little other use."

You can glue the turret farther forward ... if you like ... ;D

I dunno, it is quite a tall vehicle. Also, many modern battletaxis have reasonably centrally-mounted turrets:

The Warrior IFV:

The M3 Bradley

Granted, these are designed for smaller squad sizes (six to eight men), but they are smaller and lower vehicles than the OTTER APC/IFV, so that I can see around a dozen men fitting into one. Also, I don't think that soldier comfort is high on the agenda in in the 41st Millennium, so if it's a bit cramped for the grunts, that's fine too! :D

Overall, I like the OTTER APC/IFV rather a lot - good job guys!

After commanding a Mech Co. of M113s and crawling in and around BTR-60s, MTLBs, BMPs, Bradleys and even a Stryker ... You'd be surprised how much you can stuff into a small tight AFV interior ... ;D

Heh, I thought you might say that L4! :D

Also, I agree that one can always glue the turret forwards a bit - there's space afterall.

Yes, we used to joke that Russian AFV Crews needed to be short and thick ... short to fit inside and thick to muscle all the manual systems ... ;D Now I know what G/W Squats are ... a Russkie military breeding experiment gone bad !!! :D

Hm. I wonder why I didn't make an autocannon turret?

Here are the turret possibilities:
1) Multifreemer only.
2) Multifreemer and microwave cooker.
3) Multifreemer, microwave cooker, and autocannon.

The flamer and spewer variants will have to wait for the chassis with barrels in the back.

You could match the options that come on the bigger versions –
i.e.
Microwave cooker, überflamer and chem-spewer to accompany the chassis with barrels

Multifreemer, autocannon and twin-linked-back-breaking-multiple-tiny-rocket-launcher* on chassis without barrels.

*I provide fail for euphemisms.

And why do microwave cookers need barrels?

Also a small ballecannon and quad-barrel stubber would be very nice. At least it would save me the hassle of scratch builting those old Chimerax and Chimedons...

Actually, that would be pretty awesome! I'd buy a fair number of such turrets alone!
