Need.

The model still is gorgeous.

Neal, I think I understand your opinion, but I don't think the rule in Epic should be a 'translation' of the Wh40k ones, as semajnollissor seemed to imply to a degree.
In my opinion, and that's what I tried to say (maybe somewhat clumsily), making the Caetus a skimmer in the Wh40K rule set looks like a contortion by the FW guys to fit the very cool concept of an "assault ram" on a Warhammer 40K table.
I think Epic allow ways of putting such an engine on the table in a much more coherent way. Epic has rules for stuff that drop suddenly from orbit in a tremendous impact. I'm not quite sure (long time no played) what rule could be used to make it able to assault fortifications or building entrenched troops, but I think that's the only thing it needs to have its role on the battlefield.

I wouldn't have any issue with the Raven guard keeping a special vehicle in their list, but I don't like adopting the same contortion for the Caestus stats in E:A that FW people (Warwick ?) were forced to accept to fit it into the 40K 28mm rule-set.
Keeping true to the concept is definitely more important to me than keeping true to the 40K rule-set... Or I'll be collecting apocalypse.

and a question, isn't there a chance that this model could be released officially, for Aeronautica Imperialis ?

Just as a point - I don't see why the Caestus wouldn't be capable of flights that are more than just one-way. It does have a drive system...

I admit, it feels wrong as a skimmer, but it basically being a projectile doesn't seem quite right either.

Then again, its nearest equivalent seems to be the Dreadclaw.

It's an in-between of a Dreadclaw and a flying Land Raider.

hello *waves hand*! anybody see my suggestion of preplotted drop coords a la drop pods but with a 30cm (or so) movement from drop zone on landing/ part of its activation? Wouldn't that fit "orbital insertion vehicle with limited maneuverability on the surface"?

As a side note, Caestus in my country is a fig spreading to put on bread or toast.

yes those are scratch built rams for epic. i made them for my son and then molded it. i have like 12 of them done.If anyone was to want one i could make some more, of course only if anyone was to really want one hahaha. due you see the other tanks in the backround. i made the 3 new superheavys as well. i love the storm lord. i put the reaver mini gun on it instead of those gay short twin mingun barrels.

Makes sense - I guess if they get their attack wrong, Caestus in the Imperium would be a space marine spreading to put on space hulks or whatever it is they are assaulting... ;D ;D

From the verb caedere, "to beat to a pulp". Makes sense.
