Those look great! Very much in the Eldar ethos. For those of you in the know, how straightforward is it to upscale renders like these? I would love to see these in 28mm as well as 6mm

Easy to upscale, but hugely expensive.

Another problem with upscaling things is that all the details would have to be redone. At 6mm scale, panel lines are wider and deeper (relative to the overall size of the part) than they would be at 28mm. Similarly, any raised detail like spririt stones or control panels need to stick out further from the body of the part when done at 6mm scale.

Basically, the process would involve upscaling the main body of the part, then recutting all of the panel lines and redrawing all of the gribbly bits at the proper scale.

Then there is the fact that 6mm scale is a lot more forgiving of poor artists like me. Techniques that I can use for these small parts wouldn't necessarily work at 28mm (because people would be able to tell when curves aren't actually continuously smooth or they would notice that the control panel consists of only 2 jumbo-size triangular buttons).

If I come up with something that I think is just the greatest thing ever, I may go to all that trouble, but until then I have plenty of 6mm scale stuff to keep me busy.

That being said, if someone wanted a specific part in 28mm and were willing to do most of the work themselves, I'd probably be willing to help them out. I have a secret dream of making a better wave serpent, but that is merely a dream at this point.

Thanks for the feedback, so the premise is that it is cheaper (better/easier?) to sculpt traditionally in 28mm scale than sculpt digitally in 6mm to then grow?

On the subject of scaling detail at 28mm, you have seen the old Armorcast titans right? No concessions to additional details ;) Mind you, expectations are greater 20 years on!

The costs of printing at 28mm scale are far too high for anything other than very small components.

I'll let you in on a little secret - several of my objectives were based on some poorly executed eldar structures I made for 28mm WH40k. They have since been disassembled.

The silo is based off a super soaker tank on top of an upsidedown plastic flower pot. Now I fear I've revealed too much.

Here's the super soaker in question:

That makes sense of the Shuriken Catapults combat effectiveness, at least.

Semajnollisor: Wave Serpents are good, as long as the heels are less then an inch...

Seeing as how this thread hasn't been updated in a long time, I'd thought I'd give an update.

It's my understanding that the parts are being cast (slowly but surely). No pictures yet, but some will get posted eventually.

Also, for some reason, this week a bit of inspiration struck me, and I started drawing up a new structure. I'll let you guys guess what it is supposed to be.

I still have a lot of detail work left to do to round off some corners an make it look properly to scale.

Hey, that looks like a thing that is a thing that I've been trying to cast for a guy who made a thing.
