I found the Lord of Battles effective against Space Marines, so I have no issue with its point cost against them. Whether it has problems against armies with a lot more firepower, I cannot say, as I have not faced them, but it's a lot harder to destroy than I expected it to be (based on past experience from the Space Marine era), so make of that what you will.
Sometimes it's only possible to give anecdotal evidence, and it seems to me that there are not as many LatD players around compared to other armies, so personally I suspect that anecdotes is probably all you're going to be able to get on this particular issue.
My only major gripe is that I still cannot believe that the factions rule change hasn't been axed completely, but my feelings on that are well known, so I won't say anything else on the subject.
