I've been trying to find any info regarding multiple characters in a formation and the effect it has (if any) on said formation. Can anyone point me to these rules if there are any specific ones?

There's no rule preventing having multiple characters in a single formation.

Orks can do it (Multiple Oddboy upgrades), Eldar can do it (Multiple Exarches), etc.

Doubling up characters on a single stand might result in duplicate abilities which don't stack, so you might want to examine that. However, it's not a "hard" rule restriction and definitely does not apply across a formation.

2.0 of the FAQs:
Quote:
Q: What happens if a unit has the
same special ability more than once?

A: A unit may only have one of each
special ability. If an ability is duplicated
(for example, a character with a special
ability is added to a unit that already has
the special ability) treat the unit as if the
ability only occurs once.

Ahh ok I thought I had heard that Leader could be used twice - I may have misread that particular post.

Just for clarity, Leader can be used twice on a formation, just not twice from the same unit.

Oh really? Hmm, in terms of Marines though? 4BMs removed? That's surely not right though, is it?

It's right if you can somehow find a way to get two leaders into a formation. I don't believe there currently is such a way.

The only way I know of is with Orks and their warbands. For SM? Not a clue...

Marines can only take each upgrade once per formation. So you can't have a formation with 4 Librarians in it, despite how cool that'd be.

Black Templars can have a tactical fm that has an emperor's champion AND another character in it for 4 BM removal goodness

Right now I have the Space Wolves able to take two characters per formation in separate units

Is there any place in the SM list that says this. This is particularly what I was searching for but couldn't find it.

No. It's just in the list restriction that does not allow you to take more than one character for the formation.

If Space Wolves allowed two characters with Leader in a formation, it is not breaking any 'hard and fast' rule.

It notes only one of each upgrade is allowed on the page opposite the army list itself.
