Completely OT, but there is anyone talking Gaelic around here?

I ask because the post by Vanvlack reminded me that the Alba gu blath (or whatever it is) yell by Mel Gibbson in Gaelic was supoosed to mean something like "I have a penguin" for some rumours running around at the time. I always found it funny and wanted to be sure.

And yup, Braveheart is a great movie, even if quite crappy when iot comes to historical accuracy. It is about epic, and there it excels

Cheers,

Xavi

Hi!

A legion was something around 5000, so SM chapters are definitely undermanned. While being super human is an advantage on man can only do so much. So I guess we all agree GW's 1000 SM chapters are pretty bogus.

10,000 is a good size for a Chapter, 1000 for a company, split into 100 man centuries, split into 10 man squads.

Hi!

Ten thousand is an improvement, raising overall numbers for 10 million. The problem is this galaxy is pretty large with millions of worlds facing enemies like tyranids, chaos the orks and others. With an average of less than one SM per planet, they're streched pretty thin.

A Company is generally accepted to be a Century ... 100 men. ?So we all can agree that the G/W SM Chapter is too small. ?A Rgt., Bde., or even a Div. would be a better choice, IMO ...

Indeed. I can see a division of marines having a significant impact on a planetary battle, and parts of it having an impact on local war escenes, so yup, a division of 15k-20k marines would be my choice there.

Under the current GW numbers, the only legion ever to creep to division sttus were the ultras, and they were divided to make sure they were not a significant power anymore after the horus heressy. lol

Cheers,

Xavi

Yes, the G/W fluff is well just "Fluff" ! ?As I said before the SM1 templates are organized in Rgts., and we still use those. ? And 3 Rgts. of even 3 different SM units would make an SM Div., and that would be a?lot of firepower !:;):

Hi!

I understands the reason in reduction in forces due to the Horus Heresy, but was it really necessary? I think with taking away warp capable flight it was enough and the size reduction was unnecessary.
