G'day all.

I'm looking at running a 1 day, 3x 3000pt game tournament for Epic Armageddon soon.
I wanted to ask people here which of the army lists are considered ready for use in a tournament?

Lists I assume are ready:
- Codex Marines ./
- Ghazgkhull's Orks ./
- Steel Legion ./
- Biel-Tan ./
- Speed Freaks ./
- White Scars ./
- Baran Siegmasters ./
- Black Legion ./
- The Lost and the Damned ./

Lists I'd like to have available to players:
- Scions of Iron ./
- Minervan Legion ./
- Adeptus Mechanicus x
- War Gryphons Titan Legion ./
- Saim-Hann ./
- Red Corsairs ./
- Necrons ./
- Dark Eldar ./
- Orkamedies Gargant Mob ./
- Black Templars ./
- DkoK ./

Other lists that may be ready?
- Tyranids
- Tau ...

Does anyone have an opinion on this?
Any army champs think their army is (or is not) ready for this?

On another note, do any EA tournament orgaisers have any advice for me? Have any TO's had trouble with being able to play in their own tournament? It's not going to be a huge event (probably about a 10-12 players at most) but I want this to be a kick-start to Epic around here.

We'll be running a small campaign before the tourney so that players should be able to get up to speed on the rules and army lists.

Many thanks for any help with all this.

Cheers,
Steve.

War Gryphonnes should be okay.
Ad Mech is currently evolving and I'd avoid it for the moment.

Tau should be okay.

not that many people will use them but the Black Templars are there, the list is pretty much finished

From watching events were Matt O didn't have to play compared to those he did, he seemed much less stressed when he didn't play.

I think the key thing is organisation. If you have all the necessary result forms ready and your method of recording and round generation prepared you should be ok.

Good luck.

Thanks guys.

I knew I'd forgotten an army - thanks Pulsar, I'll at the Templars.

Mephiston - I'm hoping that the club hosting the event will be able to help out with a lot of the paperwork. You make a good point and I'll make sure I give this side of things some more attention.

Anyone else?

Oh, the NetEA say Dark Eldar are fine.

And Red Corsairs are slightly underpowered in my opinion (And are thus fine for a tournament).

E&C thinks so, but I still have serious reservations that this has not been sufficiently power-gamed for it to be tournament ready.

- Saim-Hann

Defer to Chroma's opinion, but even if it's not 100% ready it's probably close enough that it would not ruin a tournament.

I think the recent changes need more testing, but I'd say it's about the same as Saim Hann in that it would probably not ruin a tournament.

Borderline. Basically, all functional armies look about the same - Great Gargant for SC and a bunch of Kustom Gargants and Supastompas to keep the activation count up.

May need a bit of tweaking, but close enough to not ruin a tourney.

- Tyranids
- Tau ...

I haven't been following these recently.

Also...

Salamanders are ready in my opinion, pending the resolution of LR Redeemer stats.
The other Eldar Craftworlds are probably just as good as Saim Hann.
Death Corps of Krieg is okay for a tournament, though there are some minor quibbles ongoing.

I would note that I still recommend banning the Emperor class Titans from Tournaments, as they have not been sufficiently tested yet.

MANY thanks for all the help guys.

That's a lot of army lists to choose from. There should be something for everyone there.
It's good to see that many armies that are playable in a tournament. Very encouraging.

Any other thoughts?
Cheers.

Personally I think Tau are perfectly fine for a tournament.

Onyx: Your opinion is that they are underpowered, no? If so, they're certainly not going to spoil the tournament.

Well I'm the only player with a Tau army and I'm not going to be using it at this event (I'm probably going to use a Red Corsairs list if I can play) so there's probably no need to include the Tau for now.

Thanks for your input zombocom.

Also slightly underpowered, IMO. :)

List of lists generally looks good, though I notice you've (probably accidentally?)missed Feral Orks off your list.
Krieg should be in there too IMO, they're well balanced and tested.
Personally I'd let Tau and Tyranids in, nice to have the variety and though their development is more ongoing they seem in a good enough state for tournament use.
If you're allowing Saim-Hann is there a particular reason not to include Ulthwe or the other main Craftworlds?

In terms of general advice getting things properly planned and organised beforehand will minimise delays and stress and allow the day to run smoothly. If possible try and have some kind of back up plan with a spare player (or two) incase not every one who says they'll come shows up on the day. Getting some results slips for people to complete post game helps you keep track and work out who plays who. Making a tournament pack detailing the armies, scenario, times things start and finish and how victory points are calculated is a good plan. Epic-UK run loads of tournaments - maybe have a read of their tournament pack on their site for inspiration?

Good luck anyway! I hope it goes really well and proves fun for all involved :)
