Yes, DS2 use [D4 ... D12] vs [D4 ... D12] instead of D6 ±[1 ... 6] vs N+.
But damage is dealt with chits drawn from a cup.

I didn't fancy Wardogs at all, what little I've seen. But again then Starmada is splendid!

What really put me off is the lack of TO&E in FWC. But if each unit is a platoon I guess I could swallow it and get on with it already.
But I really would prefer something like Battleground; where a formation is relativly intact till it is gone.

The difference between Starmada and Wardogs is the way that they were developed. MJ12 have an excellent business model, in which pretty much anyone can come to them with a rules set and they will help it get published under the MJ12 banner. This is, as far as I know, how Starmada was put out. Wardogs, however, was a project that grew out of the forums on the MJ12 web site. Essentially, it is a rules set developed by committee, and we all know the specific issues that can come up there!

E40K....boring tasteless pap with zero flavour or fun. Like eating rice gruel; yeah, it'll keep you alive but you aren't going to enjoy it.

It also effectively killed Epic so it shall ever be reviled.

Dirtside II has a dice conversion that I would use if I were to play it. However, the link I had for it isnt working so I cant show it to you :(

The reason I wont buy Wardogs is I did buy a M12 skirmish game and found it to be absolute rubbish. Oh well.

Yeah, Dirtside II would need some modifications to make it a good system. Full of potential but some very easily exploitables in the design system. Of course if you like hordes of very fast hovercraft then it might be perfect :D

Ah, I think I mis-read you Kealios. Sorry.

Dice conversion.
I looked at it, in a spread-sheet, and [D4 ... D12] is the same as a D6 / [2+ ... 6(+)].
Ie D4 vs D12 is a 6, D12 vs D4 is a 2+ etc. And it ended up surprisingly close.

That's the sentiment I'm exploring zap123.
I'm trying to find out what is good and what is bad.
And even looking at how troop's stats work I can't really see any faults.
My main gripe is actually that it's the non-TO&E approach (similar to what FWC use) that remove most of the epic feeling.
But sure there's some more differentiation that could be done with abilities and equipment.

As for DSII, any free design system is prone to abuse. That's why I want pre-arranged TO&E's.
