Hey all!

Just wondering if it was ever decided to officially, NetEA-style, decided to drop the "extra attack" from the Rough Riders and just leaving them with a single, first strike attack.

Thoughts?

To be honest I think most people just know enough to not let them engage. If you hit them before they hit you they die real easy.

I've never had an issue with them... 1 formation shooting them and they are normally broken

Is it necessary? I've only ever fielded them without the Extra Attack, and was so underwhelmed, that it'd take a special kind of consideration for me to put them in the field again. Most of their roles can be accomplished better by Sentinels, and the few that can't, StormTroopers seem like they'd cover well enough.

The original stats are undoubtedly a little over-strong.

If wanting to balance them, I'd either drop the extra attack and drop their points cost a tad, or keep their original stats and increase their points cost to 175 for the formation.

They're too cheap/good with it, but rubbish without it. CC+5 instead? Or one CC3+ first strike?

I like this idea. Anything to raise costs in the Imp Guard is a good thing.

Thats funny. The DKoK list done up in Siege has them without the EA+1, and lowers cost of infantry by removing their Autocannons/Heavy Stubbers. I must agree with you on this point :P

They have a 5+ save though in siege, as they either represent the cybernetically enhanced death rider mounts, or mossinian bikers.

Hasn't this already been resolved a long time ago by the AC to drop it?
Compare to assault marines.
At most perhaps one 3+ first strike or 5+ CC would be ok, or instead reduce points a little (125).

Comments of "Just shoot them, don't let them attack and they aren't a problem" could be applied to any potentially troublesome unit (and frequently are) but don't address game balance in any useful way.
