Being a former career soldier and "closet historian", I'm well aware in international political machinations, especially from the turn of the century till now. I'm watching the world news as I type this. And I've been to the jungle many times, I like it better than the desert or frozen fields ... However, the confusing mix of evil, not so evil, very evil, bugs, aliens, etc., etc., makes for a "rich" backdrop for a future "War" game ... that being said, the G/W crew needs to pass around the Prozac !

Hi!
Evil is relative in the 40k universe. On some worlds chaos is a liberating force against the tyranny of earth, while on others its a scourge to be avoided.
One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter.

Hi!
I still somewhat dubious about the Tau's longevity in the 40k background. To me it doesn't quite fit. We'll see if sales warrant it being around for a long time.

IIRC from the last report the tau sell way better than the necrons, and the necrons are staying, so guess. The Tau are an emerging power in 40k, because they se?ll quite some models, and will continue being like that for 20 years or so I guess, since this is the time it will take to advance the timeline a pair of weeks after the huge jump of a few years we have seen lately. LOL. The 40k universe so far has been static, and I doubt we will see much change regarding this fact.
But yup, the survival of a race definitively relies on sales. You seell, you are a great power. You don't, you are ficked up in a 3 paragraph texxt that razes your empire.
Cheers,
Xavi

Again, Primarch, you quoted me directly, we must read the same books and watch the same programs and news ! ? ?And again Xavi and I agree ... sales define a race's survival ... can you say Squats !?

No idea. They were not one of the kain ones for sure, but maybe the sisters are lower in seller power as well as the dark eldar. In fact there was some concern about the dak eldar being eliminated after the EoT campaign using that as an excuse. Seems like GW has decided against it, though.
On a side note and answering old questions I have not replied to yet, Alpharius, yup, was the primarch of the Alpha legion (how original a name... ). he did beat Roboute Guilliman in a tactics duel, heh, as well as a master of guerrilla warfare. Guilliman did kill him in close combat, but that doesn't prevent him having beaten the creator of the codex astartes in tactics, hehe. Gonna love that guy
And nice to see that L4 is a freakie as much as myself. LMAO. Well, I am studying an MA in politics (International political economy) so ranting about that kind of hobbesian unverse is something I have a tendency to do nowadays. lol
Health and a lot of sixes,
Xavi
PS: can a moderator check the IPs of Primarch and L4 to make sure they are not the same dude, hmm? lol

Or if using a dial up, you can just disconnect, then reconnect - and walla! New IP address.

Back OT, I dont think you can really compare the two as they fought at such different levels.
Marcharius was an Ultra-Strategic level planner and conqueror of a sector. ?This obviously has vastly different requirements to Yarrick as a no less inspiring character who led a gritty and successful Hive defence.
If I was planning a campign or a naval action, I'd take the Lord Solar every time. ?Then again, his laspistol and power sword skills are probably very rusty (real Admirals do very little in the way of combat actions outside directing actions from their Flag Bridge) so I'd take the ?ork-claw wielding Commissariat Officer with me climbing through theruins and advancing on the enemy.
Lets just put them both down as inspirational and loyal servants of Him-on-Earth. ?Heroes of the Imperium indeed!
